Aldi Brings Back the Ambiano Portable Cool Mist Humidifier

Every year when winter arrives, I usually end up pulling a small humidifier out of storage. I often run it on my kitchen countertop or set it on a shelf in the living room, or sometimes I run it in a bedroom. I run it especially when we feel like the winter air is drying out our noses, throats, eyes, and skin.

If you’re in the market for a humidifier, Aldi sells quite a variety of them throughout the colder months. I’m actually surprised at how many humidifiers the discount grocer rotates through its middle aisle each year.

The latest humidifier to hit store shelves is a portable one.

What We Know:

Ambiano Portable Cool Mist Humidifer

The Ambiano Portable Cool Mist Humidifier (Product Code: 830417 in 2024) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering for this product if it’s sold out at your local store.

This is scheduled to arrive in Aldi stores on January 22nd, 2025.

The Ambiano Portable Cool Mist Humidifier cost $9.99 in January of 2025. That’s the same price it cost in January of 2024, when it was called the Ambiano Rechargeable Cool Mist Humidifier. It cost $12.99 in 2022, so Aldi has lowered the price in recent years. It’s also less than most other portable humidifiers on Amazon.

Aldi no longer shares details about its upcoming Aldi Finds in its online ads (a decision we do not like), so we can’t speak to the 2025 model.

However, here’s the information Aldi provided in 2024 about the humidifier:

  • Product net weight: 0.16 kg / 0.35 lbs.
  • Product size: 2.71 x 2.71 x 6.61 inches
  • Water tank capacity: 300ml
  • Spray volume: 25-40ml/h
  • Timed shutdown: 4 hours/6 hours
  • Battery working time: 1.5-2 hours
  • Includes USB-C cable
  • Rechargeable by USB cord charging or Li-ion battery 800mah
  • Features low-tank indicator with auto shut-off
  • Includes 7-colour LED light
  • Offers easy water fill up
  • Compatible with water-soluble essential oil
  • Includes two mist settings: continuous spray or intermittent spray
  • Includes 5 filter refills

The 2022 model came with a two-year warranty, but Aldi has not yet published information about whether the 2024 model comes with a warranty.

This is sold under the Ambiano brand, which is not a company. Instead, it’s the private label Aldi uses for various home goods, which it sources from different suppliers.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t yet tried this humidifier, so we don’t know how well it works or how it holds up to regular use. We write open threads to provide readers with a place to discuss Aldi products.

  1. I got one of these humidifiers last year and it works pretty well. Mine is a short white one, but has the same features as the one shown. Definitely a good buy.

    1. Thanks for the info! Did last year’s model come with filters like this year’s model does? Have you needed to buy more filters yet? If so, where do you buy them from? I was thinking about picking up this humidifier at Aldi this week, but I wasn’t sure if I’d have trouble finding additional filters in the future.

      1. Not the original commenter, but I bought one too. Last year’s did come with one additional filter. I was able to find more on Amazon, as they are cotton sticks, similar to other popular desktop humidifiers. Hope that helps!

  2. I can’t tell if mine is working. It’s not making any sound and it’s just lighting up. There is no mist

    1. I purchased one yesterday evening. When I turned it on after charging and pouring water in it, it wasn’t spraying any mist. I kept the water in the humidifier overnight and its working today. May be try keeping the water overnight in the container and try the next day.

    2. In my experience, it will not work unless you soak the filter first. I usually fill it, put the filter in the canister to soak, and then after about 30 minutes I re-assemble and put the filter back where it goes, and it seems to work fine.
If you can’t get it to work at all, don’t be afraid to return it! Aldi is great about returns.

    3. Just got one on clearance and see lots of comments online about them not working so well but there are some easy fixes. Many report no must but it takes a long time for the water to soak into the “wick/filter” and be drawn up into the mister. Mine only puts out mist when I turn it upside down. But for $2.50 I’m not mad. Mine also didn’t have the charger cord or manual. Tampered with pkg.

  3. just got one 3 days ago and so far so good…mine came with 4 replacement filters – yay! and you do have to let it sit a bit after filling so the filter can absorb initially [says in the directions a min. of 2 minutes, I waited half an hour before testing]…make sure you do press firmly and hold to turn it on, then once it gets going a quick push will switch it over to the intermittent setting…

  4. I got one a week ago and for some odd reason I don’t know, it turns on by itself. The light show and mist just pops on without anyone looking at it and will several times after I shut it off. I guess it does what it’s supposed to do while it’s on but I don’t feel a difference in my office, where it’s located.

  5. I got one of these last year. It worked a couple times, then all I go was lights and no mist. Charged it and it wouldn’t hold a charge. Finally wrote to the company and turned in the warranty card (2 years) and my receipt. I expect a refund probably many weeks from now, but, hey- 10 Bucks is 10 bucks!

  6. I bought two. One doesn’t work. The mist and lights buttons are stuck. I’ll return. I popped open the second one, and it works great so far. Kicks out a good amount of mist.

  7. It comes with one filter already installed in the center column. You can simply pull it off to replace it. You get four extra and one is already attached. The filter needs to be wet to get it to provide mist. I purchased two. I don’t understand how it works for four hours but the battery life is 1.5-2 hours???

  8. Warranties are pretty irrelevant at Aldi bc you can literally just return almost anything in any condition – except gardening told that contain gasoline or any other type of fuel. There is no time limit for returns but if you don’t have a receipt showing what you paid for it and the price has been reduced, that’s what you’ll get.

As far as the operation for those who say it doesn’t work yes it needs a little time to soak first but also the humidifier and light functions have separate buttons and the humidifier button has to be held for about a second to turn on, otherwise you’re just turning on the lights.
