Fremont Fish Market Shrimp Trio Party Collection

Shrimp are among my favorite foods. I love them chilled or hot and breaded with a side of cocktail sauce for dipping. I also like shrimp tacos, shrimp spring rolls, shrimp skewers, tempura shrimp, and shrimp scampi. It’s like Forrest Gump’s friend, Bubba, said: there are all kinds of ways to serve shrimp. My family loves shrimp for holidays, cookouts, and weekend dinners alike. I’m also known to order shrimp when it’s on the menu when we eat at restaurants.

When Aldi advertised a shrimp trio party collection in their weekly ad, I made sure to drop a box in my shopping cart. This trio contains a mix of shrimp flutes, filo wrapped shrimp, and shrimp bites.

Fremont Fish Market Shrimp Trio Party Collection with Sweet Chili Sauce

The Fremont Fish Market Shrimp Trio Party Collection with Sweet Chili Sauce cost $4.99 at the time of publication. The shrimp were farm raised on BAP-certified farms in Vietnam.

At the time of writing, this is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back at some point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are not currently in stock at your local store, so if you can’t find it in stores, you’re out of luck. When Aldi sells this, you’ll find it in the special freezer area.

Clockwise from top left: filo wrapped shrimp, shrimp flutes, and shrimp bites.

The box has directions for heating the food in a conventional oven or in an air fryer.

To heat in the oven, preheat the oven to 470 degrees. Arrange frozen products in a single layer on a baking sheet so products are not touching. Bake for 13-15 minutes, turning halfway through cooking. Remove from the oven and allow to stand for 1-2 minutes before serving.

To heat in the air fryer, preheat the air fryer to 395 degrees. Arrange frozen products in a single layer on the basket so products are not touching each other. Cook for 11-13 minutes, turning halfway through cooking. Remove from the air fryer and allow to stand for 1-2 minutes before serving.

I opted to heat these all in my air fryer, and they were done in about 11 minutes.

Regardless of how you heat the shrimp, you thaw the sauce pouch by placing it in hot water for 3-5 minutes. Then cut open the pouch and pour it into a serving bowl.

The sauce pouch serves about three, with one serving netting you 60 calories, 4 grams of fat (5% DV), 2 grams of saturated fat (9% DV), 80 mg of sodium (3% DV), 5 grams of total carbohydrates (2% DV), less than 1 gram of dietary fiber (2% DV), 1 gram of total sugars, 1 gram of added sugars (3% DV), and 1 gram of protein.

Each of the three different types of shrimp in this collection, if served on their own, makes up about one serving, according to the box’s nutrition panel. There are five shrimp flutes, five filo wrapped shrimp, and five shrimp bites. The box warns that this product may contain shrimp shells and tails, and the sauce may contain vegetable peels. Neither the sauce, nor any of the shrimp products, are spicy. I like the sauce that comes with these, as it provides good additional flavor.

Shrimp Flutes:

These are long with reddish-orange stripes, and inside the crisp outer dough are bits of shrimp along with onion, lemongrass, red chili, and various seasonings. In my opinion, these are the most flavorful item in this collection, and I think the other types of shrimp are all right but a little bland. One family member didn’t care as much for these shrimp flutes, though, so personal tastes may differ.

The shrimp flutes in this box have 230 calories, 10 grams of total fat (13% DV), 2 grams of saturated fat (9% DV), 380 mg of sodium (16% DV), 26 grams of total carbohydrates (10% DV), 1 gram of dietary fiber (4% DV), 9 grams of total sugars, 1 gram of added sugars (2% DV), and 7 grams of protein.

If you’re looking out for allergens, the shrimp flutes contain wheat gluten and crustacean shellfish (shrimp). They may contain sesame.

Filo Wrapped Shrimp:

These are exactly as described: a long, skinny shrimp covered with a crispy outer breading. There’s not a lot of flavor other than the shrimp and filo dough, so we liked dipping these in the included sweet chili sauce. One relative counted these among their favorites in the whole box. These do have tails on them that you’ll have to pluck off.

The filo wrapped shrimp in this box contain 200 calories, 7 grams of total fat (9% DV), 2 grams of saturated fat (8% DV), 440 mg of sodium (19% DV), 25 grams of total carbohydrates (9% DV), 1 gram of dietary fiber (4% DV), 5 grams of total sugars, no added sugars, and 8 grams of protein. Sugar is listed in the ingredients, but apparently it’s not enough to count on the nutrition panel?

If you’re looking out for allergens, the filo wrapped shrimp contain wheat gluten, crustacean shellfish (shrimp), and soy. They may contain sesame.

Shrimp Bites:

These are the most unique item in the box, but they also have the least amount of shrimp. They feature a crispy outer breading and a soft, doughy interior with breading, small bits of vegetables, and small bits of shrimp. The shrimp pieces are few and far between, but they’re there. I didn’t think this was the most flavorful thing, especially considering that it’s got the longest ingredient list of anything in the box. These taste okay, though, as long as you aren’t hoping for more shrimp, and they have a nice crisp outer texture. These are also better when dipped in the sweet chili sauce. One family member said these were among the better options in the box.

The shrimp bites in this box contain 260 calories, 16 grams of total fat (21% DV), 3 grams of saturated fat (15% DV), 420 mg of sodium (18% DV), 21 grams of total carbohydrates (8% DV), less than 1 gram of dietary fiber (3% DV), 10 grams of total sugars, no added sugars, and 7 grams of protein. Sugars is listed in the ingredients, but again, it may not be enough to count on the nutrition panel.

If you’re looking out for allergens, the shrimp bites contain wheat gluten, crustacean shellfish (shrimp), soy, and sesame.

The Verdict:

The Fremont Fish Market Shrimp Trio Party Collection with Sweet Chili Sauce is a fun, inexpensive appetizer spread ideal for a gathering or celebration. It includes five shrimp flutes, five filo wrapped shrimp, five shrimp bites. They’re all a combination of whole or diced shrimp with various seasonings and breadings. There’s also a pouch of sweet chili sauce for dipping. These are all right — perhaps not the most gourmet or the most memorable — but they’re fun for a party spread, and the price isn’t bad for appetizers featuring shrimp.
