Is Aldi Open During Memorial Day?

Last Updated on May 29, 2023

Memorial Day is a significant holiday in the United States. First and foremost, it’s a holiday to remember American soldiers who have fallen in the line of duty. (A well-intentioned mistake some people make is to view it as a holiday for veterans, and while veterans’ contributions are important, the focus of this holiday is on those who sacrificed their lives for their country.)

Beyond that, Memorial Day also marks the unofficial start to the summer season, especially with pools, which often open their gates for the first time during that weekend.

With weather warming up, Memorial Day makes for a popular opportunity to fire up the grill and cook out. That means trips to the grocery store to get everything you need to make that first cookout (or whatever food you prefer) a success. So when is Aldi open to help you get what you need?

As you might expect, the days leading up to Memorial Day have normal operating hours at Aldi. Stores on that Saturday and Sunday operate under regular shopping hours.

As for Memorial Day itself? All Aldi stores in the United States are open with “limited hours” on Memorial Day. Traditionally, that means that most stores will open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. However, Aldi is known to shift its hours from year to year, and it can also vary by store. Since Aldi doesn’t publicly list individual store phone numbers, your best bet to find out when your individual store closes is to look up that store’s information using Aldi’s store locator.

It wasn’t always that way. For years most Aldi stores were closed on Memorial Day, with a “limited number” of stores open. Aldi quietly changed that policy, probably in 2018.

The day after Memorial Day, Tuesday, is a normal day at Aldi, with regular operating hours.
