Millville Quick Cook Rolled Oats

One of my kids loves homemade blueberry oatmeal. I’ve made a recipe on the stove top for years that calls for quick-cooking oats, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and either fresh or frozen blueberries.

When I make that oatmeal recipe, these are what I often use.

Millville Quick Cook Rolled Oats are a Regular Buy. That means you should be able to find them any time of year at Aldi. They’re stocked among the other oatmeal and boxed breakfast cereals. They’re sold in a mixed case that also contains old-fashioned oats.

I paid $3.99 for a 42-ounce container in 2026. That comes out to around 10 cents per ounce. With about 30 servings per container, that’s about 13 cents per serving. We buy Aldi products for review using our own money.

This is a product of Canada and the U.S.

The container has directions for making oatmeal on the stove top or in the microwave. To make these, you’ll need water or milk, and you can optionally add a little salt. A chart on the container shows the proportions needed to make from one to four servings on the stovetop or one serving in the microwave.

To make on the stove top, bring water or milk and salt to a boil. Stir in the oats. Cook for about 1 minute over medium heat or until thickened. Stir occasionally, and stir before serving.

To make one serving in the microwave, combine 1 cup of water or milk, a dash of salt, and 1/2 cup of oats in a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until thickened. Stir before serving. Be careful as the bowl may be hot.

Regardless of whether you make this on the stove or in the microwave, the container mentions that for thicker oatmeal you can use less water or milk.

Our Thoughts:

Oatmeal ready to serve, with peaches added.

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been buying these oats for years to make homemade oatmeal on the stove top. I also use these oats to make no-bake cookies with cocoa powder, butter, milk, vanilla, sugar, and peanut butter.

More recently, my husband has been using these oats for the past year to make a bowl of microwaved oatmeal on workday mornings. He makes it with milk and adds a little honey. I sometimes make myself a similar bowl of oatmeal and add canned peaches (Aldi sells them) and a little brown sugar or honey.

If you add a full cup of milk or water to make one serving, it tends to be too much liquid, so I make a single microwave serving with just half a cup of milk and half a cup of oats.

It’s easy and convenient to make single-serving bowls of oatmeal with these oats, and we like how we can customize flavors and add-ins. We especially appreciate being able to control added sugars, which is something we can’t do if we buy the prepackaged oatmeal packets that contain a lot of sugar or artificial sweeteners.

The Verdict:

Millville Quick Cook Rolled Oats are an economical breakfast option. They’re also great as an ingredient in oatmeal cookies or no-bake cookies. We like making oatmeal with these oats because we can flavor it and sweeten it according to our preferences. It’s also quick and easy to make a single bowl of oatmeal if you have access to a microwave. Recommended.
