KIRKTON HOUSE Oversized Washable Area Rugs Coming to Aldi

EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated for December 2025.

Area rugs can help pull a room together, making your space look complete. They also can help make hard tile, wood, vinyl, or laminate floors less cold and more comfortable to walk or sit on. Area rugs aren’t as easy to clean as harder floor surfaces, though. They require vacuuming or even periodic shampooing. That’s where a washable area rug can be useful.

If you wait long enough, Aldi is likely to sell exactly what you need. That includes washable area rugs and runner rugs, which Aldi most recently is selling in late 2025.

What We Know:

The KIRKTON HOUSE 6′ x 9′ Oversized Washable Area Rug is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back at some later point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your local store.

This is scheduled to arrive in stores December 17th, 2025.

The oversized rug cost $69.99 in 2025.

We’ve seen Aldi sell the smaller 5′ x 7′ washable rugs for $49.99 going back to 2022, and that price has held fairly steady even up through the spring of 2025.

Those prices are on the lower end for similar area rugs on Amazon.

The washable rugs used to be sold under the Huntington Home brand. In 2025, Aldi started selling its washable rugs under its newer KIRKTON HOUSE brand. Neither of these brands are companies. Instead, they’re simply names Aldi puts on various home goods it sells, which it sources from different suppliers.

It comes in several colors and designs in December of 2025: brown or navy traditional, gray trellis, or charcoal medallion.

In 2025, Aldi states the rug is machine washable, super soft, and non-slip, with no rug pad required. In previous years, Aldi has stated the rug is foldable, pet and family friendly, stain resistant, and fade resistant. We don’t know for certain about the 2025 rug, but in the past this was 100% polyester and was OEKO-TEX certified.

In December of 2025, Aldi is selling a washable oversized area rug to match.

What We Don’t Know:

We don’t own this rug, so we don’t know how good it is or well it holds up to actual washing. We also don’t know if this comes with a warranty. We write open threads so readers can talk about their experiences with Aldi products.

  1. I opted to not purchase this rug because of how thin it was. Ruggables are comparable in thickness but come with the pad to attach them too. Thin is necessary for washing, but too thin and it doesn’t serve all purposes.
I like that these match thr runners from last week but I wish they would sell them during the same week. I also wish there were bigger sizes.

    1. Yep, I regret buying the hallway runner a few months ago. It’s super thin, cheap looking, and doesn’t remain in one place. I’ll probably just move it to the laundry room. The aisle of shame is a garbage dump.

  2. These are AMAZING! I have before and after picture (washed vs unwashed) that I would love to share. I have two Great Danes and a yorkie, I use the runner version as a mat for their food bowls. The one I have is white and blue and between drool, occasional regurgitation and South Carolina red clay-this thing came almost completely clean on one wash cycle. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS thing!!! It does NOT skid even with the excitement of two 100lb Dane pups!

  3. I purchased one of these rugs with the intention of using it on my patio since it is washable. However, I rolled it out in my bedroom and it looks BEAUTIFUL. I will definitely be on the lookout for one next year too. Did I mention I got it on sale for $12.99

  4. I purchased this rug in June, really liked it, but am not able to vacuum crumbs off – the vacuum cleaner tries to grab the carpet, sucks up the carpet. Tried the settings for low pile, and for hard floor, and then even the medium pile. I tried using a stiff brush but the lint/crumbs stick to the fibers. Its a 5*7 rug so I’d like to get the crumbs and lint off some other way than the washer. Any tips

    1. I would hang in on a clothes line and ” beat it” the old fashioned way. I realize not everyone has a clothes line or rug beater.. but it works great.

  5. I purchased a med size rug, 5 X 7 from Aldi’s about 2 yrs ago, and
love it, but the problem is I wanted two of them and they only had the one in a seafoam green. I’ve checked back several times, and they have many others, but no match. How can I purchase another for the other side of the room???? Need Seafoam green/ 5×7 in size

    1. Aldi often does not sell the same rug pattern or color twice, so unfortunately, I’m not sure how easy it will be for you to find a match.

  6. I opened them up ( bought 5X7 and runner). They seem very slippery. Marks in color where the folds were. It says to wash before using. I will probably just return. Too slippery for safety. I don’t want to wash and find out it’s still slippery.

  7. I bought a more plush version 2 years ago and I LOVE THEM. They are so soft and have held up great to washing (even with an agitator). I got the current thinner version, actually looks like a ruggable. They definitely move around a lot, but I was ok with that. Then I washed it. The backing has started crumbling, and it is losing its shape. I’m so disappointed.

  8. Bought 5×7 one in Dec 2025… incredibly slippery on the surface. I am talking “Tom Cruise slide-in from Risky Business” slippery. I can see this being useful under a dining room table with chairs around it, where the slipperiness for sliding chair legs is a plus, but otherwise… too dangerous for use.
