EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated for fall of 2023.

Last summer, Aldi introduced some washable 5′ x 7′ area rugs that seemed to be a hit with customers. They were skid resistant, requiring no rug pad to keep them in place even on floors with heavy foot traffic. They were also foldable for times when they weren’t in use.

Several readers left comments on our post about the washable area rug, indicating they liked it. Readers said it washed better than expected, with everything from dirt to dog messes coming out pretty well. People also said it stayed put on floors, even with large dogs walking on it. In addition, some readers talked about how pretty the rugs looked. The only knock against the area rug was that it was hard to vacuum if you just wanted to quickly clean it up rather than tossing it in the washing machine.

Now, the washable area rug is back at Aldi for a limited time. And Aldi is also selling washable runner rugs to match. The area rugs are 5 feet by 7 feet, while the runners are 2 feet by 6 feet. These rugs are both sold under the Huntington Home brand, which is not a company but rather is the private label Aldi uses for various home goods. Other recent Huntington Home products at Aldi include a tripod lamp, robotic floor duster, and coffee pod organizer.

What We Know:

Huntington Home 2-Foot x 6-Foot Washable Runner 2

One of the January 2023 rugs.

The Huntington Home 2′ x 6′ Washable Runner (Product Code: 706056 in January 2023; Product Code: 709514 in September of 2023) costs $19.99. That’s cheaper than most washable runners on Amazon at the time of writing.

This runner is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi brings them back at some later point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your area store.

Here’s more information about the runner, according to Aldi:

  • Assorted designs available
  • Foldable and washable
  • Skid resistant; no rug pad required
  • Pet and family friendly
  • Fade resistant
  • Stain resistant
  • Soft texture
  • Made of 100% polyester
  • OEKO-TEX certified

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t tried this rug yet, so we don’t know how well it works or how it holds up to foot traffic, or how well it really washes. We write open threads so readers can talk about Aldi products.

  1. Yes I own one of these and it’s wonderful! I knew I should have purchased 2 of them. I have it in my hallway and need another one. Mine is the navy, beige, brown, grey Aztec? looking one. Wears great, no skid, very thin so easy to wash but sure helps with your feet on cold wood floors. I want another one so bad! Aldi needs to make/order them again. At $19.99 you can’t go wrong.
