Sundae Shoppe Non-Dairy Cashew Milk Frozen Dessert

Ask anyone in my house what their favorite dessert is, and they’re likely to list a variety of foods. Macarons. Cheesecake. Mochi ice cream. However, one dessert we can all agree on is ice cream. It’s always a crowd pleaser and is good served on its own or alongside cake, pie, or brownies. Aldi sells several types of ice cream, ranging from inexpensive moose tracks and other flavors to super premium simple-ingredient ice cream.

But what if you can’t eat dairy or prefer not to eat dairy? Aldi rotates some non-dairy ice cream options onto it shelves, including vegan frozen dessert bars, coconut milk frozen dessert, oat milk frozen dessert, and almond milk frozen dessert.

Most recently, Aldi introduced a cashew milk-based ice cream product as a limited-time special. My family is always up for trying new ice cream products, so I bought one of each flavor to sample.

Sundae Shoppe Non-Dairy Cashew Milk Frozen Dessert cost $3.49 per pint at the time of publication. This comes in three flavors: peanut butter chocolaty chip, chocolate brownie, and double caramel.

This is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and once that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back later. Aldi doesn’t offer online ordering for products not in stock at your local store.

If you prefer ice cream or ice cream-like desserts with simple, whole ingredients, this is not necessarily for you. Depending on what flavor you get, this cashew milk ice cream may contain gums, sunflower lecithin, maltodextrin, and/or natural flavors.

My family was divided about which flavor is better, and they all stated they prefer traditional dairy ice cream. However, these desserts are not bad, and they have a texture and consistency that is practically identical to regular ice cream. If you don’t eat dairy, they’re a very good substitute for those times when you’re craving ice cream.

Sundae Shoppe Peanut Butter Chocolaty Chip Non-Dairy Cashew Milk Frozen Dessert

This was my favorite of the three cashew milk dessert flavors. It has a strong peanut butter flavor and very creamy consistency, and it has large pieces of crunchy chocolate that add some nice texture. It also has some thick peanut butter stripes throughout that add a bit of extra flavor. The rest of my family didn’t care for this flavor as much, with one person remarking they thought this has an odd aftertaste. That just meant more for me.
