Peanuts are one of my very favorite snack foods. The salty taste and crisp texture just do it for me. I’m especially fond of shelled peanuts, but in most cases practicality (i.e. eating peanuts during lunch at work) necessitates that I use more conventional peanuts. The stuff in the jar is perfectly fine, but there is something special about the more gourmet varieties.
Trader Joe’s, of course, loves to do gourmet.
Trader Joe’s Roasted and Salted Peanuts run $2.99 for a 16 ounce bag. That comes out to 18 cents an ounce — more than you’d get for cheap peanuts in a jar, but I think it’s an acceptable price for gourmet peanuts. Bonus: the bag is resealable.
The peanuts are a product of the USA. The packaging isn’t specific on what part of the country it is from, though.
Typical to some other Trader Joe’s products we’ve tried, these contain just three ingredients: peanuts, vegetable oil, and salt. (The package warns that they may contain traces of other nuts as well.) This translates into a simple but tasty snack. They’re suitably crisp, salty, and tasty.
The Verdict:
Simply made and simply good, these Trader Joe’s peanuts are a perfectly good snack food. They have just the right amount of salt and texture without some of the weird ingredients that you sometimes find in conventional jarred peanuts. Plus, the bag is resealable, so you can take these with you and know they’ll stay fresh. Recommended.
Hello Joshua, do you know if these are “Virginia” or “Valencia” or “Spanish” or simply “Runners” type peanuts?
They are your standard cocktail Peanuts. TJs does sell Virginia peanuts as “blister” peanuts.

Except that they are not ‘standard’. They are simply delicious! A very high quality product. Best I have ever tasted!
They are actually not that good. They are not roasted enough. But I haven’t found better yet.
I stopped eating TJ peanuts and just stick to peanut butter of higher quality and flavor.
