Simply Nature Organic Marinara Pasta Sauce
EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated for 2026.
Jarred pasta sauces sometimes have a lot of added sugar, so I like to look for varieties that don’t. For several years, Aldi has carried just such a sugar-free pasta sauce.
Simply Nature Organic Marinara Pasta Sauce cost $2.19 for a 23.5-ounce jar, or about 9 cents per ounce, in 2026. Back when I first reviewed it in 2020, it cost $1.89 for a 25-oz. jar, which was about 7 cents per ounce. We buy Aldi products for review using our own money.
The jar displays a Good Housekeeping Nutritionist Approved seal.
This is a Regular Buy, which means you should be able to find it at Aldi all year. It’s stocked among the other pasta sauces and dried pasta.
There is another Simply Nature Organic Pasta Sauce from Aldi that is Tomato Basil-flavored, and it’s fine, but this one is my go-to.
Ingredients and Nutrition Facts:

The ingredients list is simple: organic tomato puree (water, organic tomato paste), organic diced tomatoes in organic tomato juice, salt, organic dried onion, organic dried garlic, organic garlic powder, organic dried basil, and organic dried oregano.
I appreciate that the sauce is about as whole foods as it gets, using basic ingredients you’d find in a home kitchen.
This is gluten free.

One jar has about six half-cup servings, and each serving contains 50 calories, no fat, 490 mg of sodium (21% of your daily value), 10 grams of total carbohydrates (3% DV), 2 grams of dietary fiber (7% DV), 6 grams of total sugars, no added sugar, and 2 grams of protein.
The sauce is USDA Organic and is certified organic by Quality Assurance International, one of the world’s largest certifiers.

I use Simply Nature Organic Marinara Pasta Sauce in everything from spaghetti and meatballs to lasagna to casseroles like spaghetti pie. It’s also great served as a dip for cheese sticks or toasted ravioli.

And I always appreciate the fact that my family is getting a serving of veggies with no added sugar.
The Verdict:
Simply Nature Organic Marinara Pasta Sauce has no added sugar and no highly processed ingredients: just lots of veggies. It’s a good sauce for spaghetti and meatballs or whatever Italian-inspired dish you want to make.

This is one of the best jar tomatoe/pasta sauces I’ve ever had. I made a small pot of meatballs in this sauce and then made pasta to go with it, sprinkled with some Parmesan cheese and it is a fantastic sauce I would highly recommend. It is not acidic and especially when you cook it with meat the flavor becomes even better. My new favorite!
Hi Rachael and Joshua!
I enjoy the newsletter, a great deal and look forward to receiving it!
I will definitely try the simply nature organic marinara, as I really hate all the sugar that’s added to just about everything we eat
In my cupboard, I have a jar of Reggano Marinara. It’s just basic pasta sauce and upon reading the label I was very pleased to find that there is no sugar added to this sauce either. it’s good basic pasta sauce at $1.65 a jar, you can’t beat it.
