Benner Unsweetened Black Tea
EDITOR’S NOTE: As of 2026, Aldi appears to no longer carry this product.
I drink at least one cup of hot tea almost every day. It’s less common for me to drink iced tea, but I do order it sometimes at restaurants, and it can be especially refreshing on a hot summer day.
If ready-made single servings of iced tea are your thing, you can buy them at Aldi. The discount grocer sells both sweetened and unsweetened bottles of black tea. Since my husband and I avoid added sugar when we can, I bought a pack of the unsweetened tea to try.
Benner Unsweetened Black Tea appears to be a Regular Buy, which means it should be on shelves at Aldi year round. You’ll find these on the room-temperature shelves near the soda, juice, and other beverages.
We paid $5.49 for a pack of six 16-ounce bottles at our local Aldi in the summer of 2025. That comes out to about 92 cents per bottle, or around 6 cents per ounce. We bought this with our own funds.
This has more ingredients than if you brewed black tea and iced it at home. Ingredients are water, natural flavor, black tea, and phosphoric acid.
A 16-ounce bottle has no calories, sodium, carbs or sugar. One bottle has 32 mg of caffeine.
This is pasteurized. The label recommends to chill and shake well before serving. Also, this should be refrigerated after opening to maintain freshness.

We packed a few of these bottles in our cooler so we’d have caffeine at the ready during a recent road trip. This tea tastes good, and we don’t mind that it’s unsweetened; it still has good flavor. Some of us thought it had a hint of lemon flavoring, possibly from the natural flavor listed among the ingredients. It’s not a strong lemon flavor, though.
I won’t buy this all the time because it does contain a few processed ingredients, and it costs more than if I brewed my own tea at home and chilled it. The bottles also create more plastic waste compared to brewing my own tea. However, this tea is useful for times when we’re out and about or traveling and want some iced tea for the road.
The Verdict:
Benner Unsweetened Black Tea is sold in 16-ounce bottles and comes in a six-pack that you can take wherever you want a little caffeine boost. The tea may not be the most economical, but it tastes good if you want tea on the go. It also comes in a sugar-sweetened version if you prefer that.
