EDITOR’S NOTE 2: Aldi sold adult and children’s Halloween onesies again in October 2023 for slightly lower prices than in 2022. They included skeleton, dinosaur, bear, and pineapple adult onesies for $14.99 in adult sizes or for $7.99 in children’s sizes.

According to Wikipedia, a “union suit” is a type of one-piece underwear developed during the late 19th century. At that time, fashionable clothing was more about style than comfort, and union suits represented part of the movement to make clothing more practical and comfortable. Considering that heating and insulation were nothing like they are today, a union suit could be a valuable piece, especially in winter.

Union suits are still around today, and they can be used in a variety of ways, including as undergarments for cold weather and as pajamas. They’re typically simple affairs. But there is also a subclass of union suits that aren’t so simple: these union suits are more like onesie pajamas, and some even look like full costumes. Kids’ versions of these costumes have been around for decades; in recent years, adult versions have also gained traction.

With Halloween just around the corner, you’re likely to see union suit costumes at your seasonal Halloween store, and possibly in big box stores. Aldi, too, is rolling in a few styles.

What We Know:

Aldi is selling both kids’ and adult’s union suits. Both are Aldi Finds, meaning you can only find them in stores for a little while. Each store gets one shipment, and once they’re gone, they’re gone, and you won’t be able to find them until they come back, whenever that might be. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t available in your local store.

Some of the child suits.

The other option is the Lily & Dan Children’s Union Suit (Product Code: 701620). As the name suggests, these are made for little ones. These cost $9.99, which is also much less than other suits of this kind I can find online.

Aldi lists the following features:

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t tested either of these union suits yet, so we can’t speak to fit, comfort, or longevity. We’ve created this open thread for users to share their experiences.

Have you purchased either of these union suits? Let us know in the comments?
