Aldi Introduces Crane Hover Ball Soccer, Hockey, and Bowling

The weather is cold outside in many parts of the United States, and the kids are restless. What do you do when you can’t send them outside quite as easily to play and burn off energy?
Enter Aldi. The discount grocer is rotating all kinds of toys, games, and sports gear into its famous middle aisle just in time for Christmas gift giving. In recent weeks, I’ve seen quite a few products to help get kids — or people of all ages, really — in motion, including kickboxing trainers, over-the-door basketball hoops, and a 6-in-1 multi-game center.
One of the more interesting items I spotted is a hover ball set that comes in three varieties: soccer, hockey, or bowling.
What We Know:
Crane Hover Ball (Product Code: 710544) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back next year. You can’t order this online from Aldi if it’s sold out at your local store.
This is scheduled to arrive in stores on December 6th, 2023. To the best of my knowledge, this appears to be the first time Aldi has sold any kind of hover ball set.
Crane Hover Ball cost $12.99 each at the time of publication, with the soccer, hockey, and bowling sets all sold separately.
That’s less than similar hover ball sets I found online. In fact, the Aldi hockey hover ball set looks almost identical to one sold on Amazon for $28 at the time of writing, although the set on Amazon also includes a soccer hover ball. The set on Amazon indicates the hover balls are rechargeable and do not need batteries.
Here’s more information, according to Aldi:
- Hover Ball is functional on all hard floors and low-pile carpet
- Includes foam bumper for protection
- Soccer set comes with 2 goals, 1 hover ball, and 1 mini soccer ball with pump
- Hockey set comes with 1 hover ball, 2 goals, and 2 hockey sticks
- Bowling set comes with 1 hover ball and 6 pins
The hover ball sets are sold under the Crane brand, which is not a company. Instead, Crane is the private label Aldi uses for various athletic, health, and fitness products such as adjustable kettlebells, exercise mats, and massage guns.
What We Don’t Know:
We haven’t purchased this, so we don’t know how well it works or how it holds up to use. We write open threads to provide readers with a place to discuss Aldi products.
Did you purchase one of the Crane Hover Ball sets? Let us know what you think of it in the comments below.
I purchased one hover hockey set and one hover soccer set from Aldi to give as Christmas gifts for my grandson and great nephew. My grandson played with the hockey set and loved it, in fact the whole family had a great time with it. My son-in-law charged it in the basement that night and when he went downstairs to get it the house smelled of smoke and the toy was melted. This toy could have caused serious injury and burnt the house down!
Hopefully I can find the receipt so I can return both toys promptly for a full refund. I just hope Aldi doesn’t try to resell the hover soccer set, it’s clearly a fire hazzard.
If you can’t find the receipt, you can return Aldi products without a receipt and get store credit. However, if the products have been clearanced and reduced in price, your refund would be for the clearance price. https://www.aldireviewer.com/how-do-you-return-a-product-to-aldi/
