Besides Aldi, Target is one of my favorite stores. In fact, I often combine my Target and Aldi shopping into one trip because the two stores in my area are often near each other. Target is a great place to buy those personal care items and house cleaning supplies that Aldi doesn’t sell, along with some food brands that are specific to Target.
One section at Target that I’ve always enjoyed browsing in is the children’s bedroom and/or playroom aisle, which features an array of colorful bedding along with lamps, storage bins, novelty pillows, wall art, and everything else you’d want to decorate a child’s room. I’ve purchased children’s quilts and sheet sets, desk or nightstand lamps, and fabric storage bins for all our beloved stuffed animals at Target over the years. Many of these products are sold under the Pillowfort brand, which is a Target house brand focusing on children’s bedroom décor.
Some of these things can be reasonably priced, especially if you catch them on clearance, while other Target products can be on the more expensive side.
Recently, I spotted some decorative wall shelves in the Aldi ad that look just like some of the wall shelves Target sells under its Pillowfort brand.
What We Know:
The Huntington Home Decorative Wall Shelf (Product Code: 709229) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back at some point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products not currently in stock at your local store.
The shelves cost $14.99 each at the time of publication.
Here’s more information, according to Aldi:
- Shelves available in Cloud, Rainbow, or Sun designs
- Dimensions: 23″ L
- For indoor use only
- Includes hardware for mounting
The Aldi cloud shelf looks exactly like a cloud wall shelf that Target sells, with the dimensions being almost identical. The Target version cost $35 at the time of writing, which is more than twice the cost of the Aldi shelf.
The other Aldi wall shelves don’t appear to be such close dupes of the Target shelves, although Target does sell a different version of a Pillowfort rainbow wall shelf for $15 at the time of writing. Target also sells a yellow Pillowfort flower wall shelf that was $25 at the time of writing and looks similar but not identical to the Aldi sun shelf.
Either way, if you hang these Aldi shelves in your house, people are going to be likely to think you got them at Target and not at a discount grocery store.
What We Don’t Know:
We haven’t yet tried these shelves, so we don’t know how easy they are to mount on a wall or how durable they are. Aldi also has not yet published any information about weight limits for the shelves. We write open threads so readers can discuss Aldi products.
