Aldi Play Aldi Food Market and Aldi Cart & Bag Building Sets
Late in 2024, Aldi introduced its first Aldi-themed LEGO-style building sets. One set was a complete Aldi store, with front facade and an interior with shelves. The other set was an Aldi tractor-trailer truck. We purchased both sets and had a fun time putting them together and noticing all the little details.
This year, in 2025, Aldi is selling more LEGO-style Aldi-themed sets. The first is an Aldi checkout counter with the conveyor belt and cash register. The other set is an Aldi shopping cart, which even features a quarter slot, and an Aldi shopping bag.
These aren’t the only Aldi-themed toys the grocer is selling either. Aldi also recently sold some limited-edition Magna-Tile-style building sets. One magnetic tile playset is an Aldi store, and the other is an Aldi truck.
Here, we’re taking a closer look at the LEGO-style building sets.
The Aldi Play Bricks Food Market and Aldi Play Bricks Grocery Bag and Cart sets are Aldi Finds. That means they’re in stores for just a short time. Each store should receive one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering if these are out of stock at your local store.
These were scheduled to be available the week of November 26th, 2025.
The sets cost $9.99 each in 2025.

The food market set contains 385 pieces, while the grocery bag and cart set contains 360 pieces. The boxes state these are for ages 6 and older. The boxes also claim these have “movable parts to enhance play,” are compatible with “leading brands,” and come with “easy to follow instructions.”
Unboxing and Assembling the Aldi Market and Aldi Cart & Bag:
When you open each box, you’ll find multiple bags of building bricks and an assembly instruction booklet. One way in which these Aldi bricks differ from name-brand LEGO is that the bags are not numbered. So, you end up having to open and dump all the bags at once and sort through all the pieces to find the ones you need. That’s not a deal breaker for us, but it is a minor annoyance.

We got these assembled without too much trouble. A younger child might need some help.
We love the play market, with its shelves displaying real Aldi brands such as Savoritz Peanut Butter Crackers and Millville Fruit Rounds. The set comes with a sheet of stickers with the food labels, which you apply to specific building bricks. We also like the conveyor belt (it doesn’t actually move) and checkout scanner and screen.

We did have an issue with the shopping cart. If you try to pick it up to move it — even simply to set it on a shelf to display — it will very easily fall apart. As a result, we don’t recommend the shopping cart set if you intend to give it to a child who might want to play with it, or push the cart around, or otherwise move the cart. That aside, though, the set is cute, and we like the “quarter slot” on the cart handle and the Aldi-branded “food” that comes with the set.

The cart and market sets are both pretty close in scale, so you could assemble these and display them together. They are on a larger scale than the previous Aldi building sets that Aldi sold in 2024. Still, they look cool if you put them all together on a shelf or table to display.

The Verdict:
The Aldi Play Aldi Play Food Market and the Aldi Play Aldi Cart & Bag are LEGO-style building sets for the devoted Aldi fan. We wish the bags of bricks were numbered for easier assembly, and the shopping cart falls apart more easily than it should when handled. Nevertheless, these sets look great on display and are a way to show off your Aldi fandom.

I hope you were able to put these together as fast as it takes an Aldi employee to scan your groceries. LOL
