For a limited-inventory store, Aldi has sold a surprising number of baby gates within the past six months or so. The discount grocer rotated a pressure-mounted walk-through gate onto shelves in June of 2022. Then in October of 2022, Aldi sold a large retractable gate.
The latest gate to arrive in stores is another retractable gate, but this one isn’t oversized. It has smaller dimensions — and a smaller price tag — compared to the large retractable gate Aldi sold a few months ago.
The Little Journey Retractable Gate is part of the Little Journey brand of products at Aldi. Little Journey isn’t a company. Instead, it’s the private label Aldi uses for various baby and child-related products. Other Little Journey products at Aldi include diapers, wipes, and various snacks and foods for toddlers.
What We Know:

The Little Journey Retractable Gate (Product Code: 708066) cost $29.99 in 2022 and in 2024. That’s cheaper than most other retractable gates on Amazon at the time of writing.

This is an Aldi Find, which means it’s in stores for only a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and once that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back at some later point. If a product isn’t in stock at your local Aldi store, you can’t order it online.
Here’s more information on the 2024 gate, according to Aldi:
- Standard retractable gate with dimensions of 55″ W x 33″ H
- Available in Black, Gray, or White
- Revised Mounting angles; can now mount within 180° range
- Revised mechanism; now features fully locked, quick unlock, and free-spool modes
- Offers one-handed operation
- Great for infants and pets
As mentioned earlier, this retractable gate is smaller than the large retractable gate Aldi sold a few months ago. This gate is 55″ wide and 33″ tall, while the large gate was 70″ wide and 41″ tall.
The gate appears to come with a one-year warranty serviced by Perma Products. This is an Australian home hardware manufacturer that features products such as baby gates, child locks and latches, pet barriers, pet doors, wall hooks, and safety products including grip treads for stairs.
What We Don’t Know:
We haven’t tried this gate, so we don’t know how easy it is to install or use, or how well it holds up to use. We write open threads so readers can ask questions and talk about their experiences with Aldi products.

Can this be used on a door going to the outside? My dogs try to go outside whenever the door is open. Right now I am using a multicolored child gate or you can make a blocked play area for the child. When I use it for the dogs it makes an area when I come in the door that they can’t get into giving me time to close the screen door and inside door. It works but it’s a pain to set up, takes up a lot of room and I have to block the ends near the wall. HELP!!!
