Open Thread: Little Journey Large Retractable Gate

When you have babies, toddlers, or pets, sometimes a gate is a must-have accessory. You may have certain areas of your house you want to block off from kids or animals while still having relatively easy access yourself.

This is where walk-through gates or swinging gates can be useful. Aldi recently sold a pressure-mounted walk-through gate.

If you want something with a lower profile, a retractable gate might do the job as well. These gates are made with a flexible mesh material that can be rolled back similar to a window shade. And if you want a retractable gate, Aldi is selling one for a limited time.

What We Know:

The Little Journey Large Retractable Gate (Product Code: 707410) cost $29.99 in August of 2024 and in August of 2023. That’s $10 less than the $39.99 it sold for in October of 2022. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen Aldi drop the prices on certain Aldi Finds this year, and this is yet another welcome example.

This price is also on the lower range of prices for retractable gates on Amazon at the time of publication, with many gates starting around $40 and going as high as $55 or more, depending on the size. We found a few gates for less than $40, but the selection is small in that price range.

This gate is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after they sell out, they’re gone unless Aldi brings them back at some point. Aldi doesn’t have online ordering for products you can’t find at your local store.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t used this gate, so we don’t know how easily it installs or how well it works. We write open threads so readers can talk about products they’ve purchased at Aldi.
