Ambiano Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier + Ambiano Humidifier Cleaning Fish
I usually run at least one humidifier somewhere in my house during the winter months, in the living room or kitchen, or maybe in a bedroom. Aldi rarely sells the exact same humidifier twice, and I’ve tried a few of them over the years. Some are better than others.
The most recent humidifier to show up at Aldi is a top fill cool mist model. It looks like a typical humidifier, but it was sold alongside a three-pack of humidifier cleaning fish that caught my attention. It almost looked like you could put the two products together to create a setup that looks a little like an aquarium. I picked up the humidifier and the cleaning fish during my weekly Aldi shopping trip.
The Ambiano Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier and the Ambiano Humidifier Cleaning Fish are Aldi Finds. That means they’re in stores for a short time only. Each store should receive one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to sell them again later. Aldi does not offer online ordering if these are out of stock at your local store.
These were scheduled to be available starting January 21st, 2026.
We buy Aldi products for review using our own funds. I bought the Ambiano Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier for $19.99, and the Ambiano Humidifier Cleaning Fish cost $9.99 for a pack of three.
Ambiano is not a manufacturer. Instead, it’s the name Aldi puts on various home goods it sells, which it sources from different suppliers.
Let’s take a closer look at the specifications for the humidifier and the cleaning fish.

To use the humidifier, remove the water tank lid and fill the tank with clean, cold water from the tap. Put the lid back on, and place the water tank on the humidifier base. Do not pour water into the mist outlet.
Plug in the humidifier and switch on the power knob. Rotate the knob to adjust mist output.

The humidifier includes an essential oil tray. I had a hard time pulling the tray out, and then I couldn’t get it to snap securely back in place.

To occasionally clean the humidifier, empty the water tank and pour 2 cups of undiluted distilled white vinegar into the water tank. Place the tank lid back on and let soak for 20 minutes. Then, remove the water tank from the base and empty all the vinegar. Make sure the vinegar is also emptied from the humidifier base. Gently scrub with a soft cloth or brush to clean all areas and remove any mineral buildup. Rinse the water tank and base with clean water after scrubbing.

Ambiano Humidifier Cleaning Fish:
Details about the humidifier cleaning fish are as follows:
- Helps maintain water quality
- Prevents odor buildup
- Works in all humidifiers
- Contains no harsh chemicals
- Works for up to three months

The package states that “humidifiers often collect bacteria, mold, and algae because they store standing water.” It instructs to place one cleaning fish in each gallon of water your humidifier holds, and run your humidifier as usual. It recommends replacing the fish every three months for best results. When finished, throw away used fish or recycle if possible. Do not open the cartridge and do not pour contents down any drain.
The package doesn’t indicate what’s actually inside the plastic fish that helps to clean your humidifier. The fish are filled with small pebble-like material.
Using the Humidifier and the Humidifier Cleaning Fish:

The humidifier is on the larger side, with a spacious water tank. It’s heavy when full, so be careful if you have to move it.

This puts out a lot of mist. It has different openings and caps on the lid where mist comes out, and they seem to help direct the mist a bit, depending on how you position them. It claims to have a 10-hour run time, but so far I’ve been running it at around 75% of the mist output capacity for a few hours, and I’m not sure it will make it to 10 hours at this rate. It might last 10 hours if you run it at the lowest setting. I’ll continue testing it and update this post later.
The nightlight is not very bright. It’s barely visible during the daytime, and I’m waiting to see what it looks like at night in a dark room.

I added one of the humidifier cleaning fish, and it floated for a few minutes before sinking to the bottom of the water tank. I was hoping this might look a little bit like a whimsical aquarium with the cleaning fish in it, but you can’t clearly see that it’s a fish. I’m not sure how much of a difference the cleaning fish will make, since I’ve never had problems with mold or algae in a humidifier before. With proper maintenance, it’s never been an issue for me.
The Verdict:
The Ambiano Top Fill Cool Mist Humidifier features a fairly large tank and it puts out a lot of mist. The nightlight is on the faint side, and the essential oil tray doesn’t insert securely. Otherwise, it looks like a decent humidifier so far.
The Ambiano Humidifier Cleaning Fish claim to help maintain water quality and prevent odors. We’re not sure how necessary the fish are if you keep your humidifier maintained with fresh water and regular cleanings, but the fish are kind of cool looking.

When I clean the AMBIANO TOP FILL COOL MIST HUMIDIFIER, I removed the water tank and the base of the humidifier was also filled with water. Is this normal? Will the water that fills in this area ever “overflow”? I read the manual several times, and there’s no mention of water filling in this area. This is my first purchase of a top fill cool mist humidifier. Please respond to my email provided.
Thank You.
It’s normal for the base to fill with water. We own other humidifiers that do the same thing. It shouldn’t overflow.
