Appetitos Green Chile Rolls

EDITOR’S NOTE: This review is from late 2025. Aldi is advertising these again the week of April 15th, 2026, for $6.59.

Aldi sells a couple of unique twists on egg rolls at least once a year. The southwestern style rolls are our family’s favorite. However, the grocer sells some green chile rolls that are pretty good, as well. Here, we’re taking a closer look at the green chile rolls.

The box describes these as “a blend of chicken, onion, tomato, jalapeno and spices in crispy rolls.”

Appetitos Green Chile Rolls

Appetitos Green Chile Rolls are an Aldi Find, which means they’re in stores only for a short time. Each store should get one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone until whenever Aldi decides to bring them back. Aldi does not offer online ordering if these are out of stock at your local store.

We buy Aldi products to review with our own funds, and in 2025 I paid $6.99 for a 24-ounce box containing eight rolls. That comes out to about 29 cents per ounce, or about 87 cents per roll. As of 2026, the price is down slightly to $6.59.

The box lists three ways to prepare these: conventional oven, microwave, or deep fryer.

To bake in the oven, preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Place the rolls about 1 inch apart on a baking sheet in the center of the oven. Bake uncovered for 18-22 minutes or until heated. Turn rolls halfway through the cooking cycle.

To microwave, cover a roll with a paper towel on a microwave-safe plate. Cook on high for 1 minute and 15 seconds to 1 minute and 45 seconds. Turn the roll halfway through the cooking time. Add 1 minute and 15 seconds for each additional roll.

To deep fry, heat the oil to 350 degrees and fry the rolls for 7 minutes and 30 seconds to 8 minute and 30 seconds.

Ready to serve after air frying.

I decided to cook these in my air fryer. There are no directions for air frying these, but my family has air fried enough appetizer-style foods like this that we feel confident winging it. I set my air fryer to 400 degrees and cooked them for 12 minutes. They were sufficiently done at that point, crispy on the outside and warm on the inside. I let them cool for about five minutes on a plate before serving them.

These are as good as the southwestern style rolls that Aldi sells in a mixed case alongside these. They’re not spicy (the southwestern ones actually are mildly spicy), and they’re flavorful with chicken and bits of peppers, onion, and tomato. These are tasty on their own, but — similar to their southwestern counterparts — I think these are very good dipped in a little ranch dressing.

The Verdict:

Appetitos Green Chile Rolls feature egg roll wrappers filled with chicken, onion, tomato, peppers, and seasonings. We recommend air frying them and dipping them in ranch.
