Earth Grown Vegan Vanilla with Chocolate Chip Cookies and Vanilla with Cocoa Cookies
Aldi has added a lot of intriguing vegan options to its lineup during the past few years. We’ve spotted many great products, including falafel (a personal favorite), cheese sticks, mac and cheese, coconut milk ice cream, meatballs, and various burgers and patties.
Whether you eat a dairy free diet or simply prefer to avoid animal products, Aldi offers products that don’t necessarily make you feel like you’re missing out. My husband and I tried some excellent Aldi oat-based vegan ice cream bars that tasted just like traditional ice cream this past spring, so when I recently spotted some oat-based ice cream sandwiches at the discount grocery store, it was an easy decision to drop a few boxes in my shopping cart. My family loves ice cream sandwiches, and we especially like ice cream sandwiched between cookies. These didn’t disappoint.
Earth Grown Vegan Vanilla with Chocolate Chip Cookies and Vanilla with Cocoa Cookies cost $3.99 at the time of publication for a 13.6-ounce package that contains four cookie sandwiches each. The box describes these as “non-dairy frozen dessert cookie sandwiches.”
These are an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back at some point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your local store.
These are a product of Italy (so were the other vegan ice cream bars we tried this spring) and are certified vegan by the European Vegetarian Union.
If you’re looking out for allergens, both flavors contain wheat. They may also contain soy, peanuts, and tree nuts. These also have fairly lengthy ingredients lists, which is often the case when talking about using vegan-friendly ingredients to imitate popular non-vegan foods.

Earth Grown Vegan Vanilla with Chocolate Chip Cookies
These feature a vanilla non-dairy ice cream-like filling speckled with bits of what appear to be chocolate cookie, almost like cookies and cream ice cream. The filling is sandwiched between two thin, smooth, soft chocolate chip cookies. The chocolate chips are visible, but it’s more of a chocolate swirl than a chocolate chip cookie like what you’re familiar with. I occasionally noticed the crunch of small chocolate chips while eating this, but it’s not all that chocolatey in terms of flavor. Still, it’s a good dessert, and the oat-based frozen dessert has a texture and flavor that is indistinguishable from real dairy ice cream. I’d buy these again.
One ice cream sandwich (68 grams) has 230 calories, 8 gram of total fat (10% DV), 6 grams of saturated fat (30% DV), 30 grams of total carbohydrates (11% DV), and 15 grams of added sugars.
Earth Grown Vegan Vanilla with Cocoa Cookies
These feature more cookies and cream-like non-dairy ice cream as a filling sandwiched between two thin chocolate cookies. The cookies have a flavor and texture similar to those traditional rectangular ice cream sandwiches we’re all familiar with, although the cookies are slightly sturdier than traditional ice cream sandwich cookies. I noticed more of an oat flavor with the ice cream filling in these sandwich cookies, which is different but fine. The filling is still identical to real ice cream in terms of texture. These are good ice cream sandwiches and I’d purchase these again as well.
One sandwich (68 grams) has 230 calories, 7 grams of total fat (9% DV), 6 grams of saturated fat (30% DV), 30 grams of total carbohydrates (11% DV), and 15 grams of added sugars (30% DV).
The Verdict:
Earth Grown Vegan Vanilla with Chocolate Chip Cookies and Vanilla with Cocoa Cookies are non-dairy ice cream sandwiches featuring an oat-based frozen dessert filling. They are practically identical to real ice cream in terms of texture and flavor, and they taste great. If you’re looking for vegan ice cream sandwiches, give these a try.
I really hope Aldi brings these back. My son is allergic to dairy and he really enjoyed this product. He had me drive him back for more today only to find they were all gone.
I’ve spent so much money on these I loved them and so did my girls! My daughter doesn’t tolerate dairy well so these were a great solution I hope they bring them back! I looked forward to buying them every week!
This is the only dessert that I bought on a regular basis at aldi and now it is no longer available.
