Simply Nature Organic Fair Trade Tea

I love tea. I love the taste of my favorite tea flavors, but equally important is my love for the ritual of tea. There’s something comforting about filling my electric kettle with water, plugging in the kettle and heating the water, selecting the right tea for my mood and the time of day, pouring the hot water over the tea in one of my favorite mugs, and slowly sipping and enjoying my hot drink.

My tea collection in my pantry is large and includes classic black tea along with Earl Grey, English Breakfast, chai, Winter Wake Up, Maple Espresso Black Tea, jasmine green tea, Harvest blend, black tea with rose petals, and a variety of herbal teas.

Every spring for the past few years, Aldi has stocked some limited-edition teas that are pretty much always winners. They often have lighter, fruity notes, making them perfect brews as we head into warmer weather. The flavors are often different every spring. For a few years, they sold a hibiscus blend, jasmine green tea, and rose black tea. Another year, there was a watermelon strawberry mint black loose leaf tea. Last year it was tropical green tea, lemon ginger herbal tea, and peach rooibos herbal tea.

This year, Aldi has introduced some new special edition tea flavors: hibiscus berry herbal tea, mango pineapple green tea, and ginger peach black tea.

Simply Nature Organic Fair Trade Tea

Simply Nature Organic Fair Trade Tea cost $3.99 at the time of publication for a box containing 20 individually wrapped tea bags. That comes out to about 20 cents per tea bag.

This is an Aldi Find, so it’s in stores for only a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are not in stock at your local store.

This tea contains fair trade certified organic hibiscus, organic green tea, and organic black tea respectively. It’s fair trade certified by Fair Trade USA and certified organic by Quality Assurance International. It’s also kosher.

This is sold under the Simply Nature brand, which is not a company. Instead, it’s the private label Aldi uses for healthier products such as flax seeds, applesauce, organic preserves, and more.

Don’t forget that you can compost your used tea bags.

Simply Nature Organic Mango Pineapple Fair Trade Green Tea:

This is another very aromatic tea with strong notes of pineapple. This has fruity notes that remind me some of the tropical green tea Aldi sold last spring. If you like green tea with a bit of a twist, this is for you. It contains licorice, which sometimes adds some natural sweetness to tea, but I still prefer to drink this one with a little bit of honey added. As with all green teas, this has a small amount of caffeine, but it has less caffeine than black tea.

Simply Nature Organic Ginger Peach Fair Trade Black Tea:

This is a unique tea. I have come to prefer black tea over many herbal teas over the years, and maybe that’s a little bit of my husband’s influence, since he prefers black teas. This is not your typical black tea, though, as it contains a bite of ginger as well as peach notes. Most ginger teas I’ve had are herbal teas, but that is not the case here. It’s like a mashup of herbal and black teas. Naturally, this does contain caffeine.

Ingredients are organic black tea, organic ginger, natural flavor, organic natural flavor, and organic peach.

For iced tea, bring fresh cold water to a rolling boil. Pour 4 cups over 3-5 tea bags and steep for 3-5 minutes before removing the tea bags. Pour over ice-filled glasses.

The Verdict:

Simply Nature Organic Fair Trade Tea comes in three flavors: hibiscus berry herbal tea, mango pineapple green tea, and ginger peach black tea. They’re all good, and there is something to suit every taste, whether you want herbal tea with no caffeine, green tea with a little bit of caffeine, or black tea with caffeine.

  2. Thought the Mango Pineapple sounded delicious, but the licorice in it not good! allergic to it.

  3. The Mango Pineapple goes really well with eating an orange or tangerine!
