Fremont Fish Market Crab Cakes
I like to make crab cakes with a side salad for myself for lunch sometimes. Or, I might serve them with a seafood-themed dinner with shrimp or fish fillets.
Aldi rotates several different types of crab cakes into stores as limited-time specials. Most of the crab cakes Aldi occasionally stocks are sold frozen. I’m particularly fond of the Specially Selected Crab Cakes, but the oven ready frozen crab cakes Aldi sells under its Fremont Fish Market house brand are good, too.
There is one type of crab cake Aldi periodically sells that I had not yet gotten around to trying. This version is sold refrigerated. The package describes these Fremont Fish Market Crab Cakes as “crab cakes with real and imitation fish flakes” and says these are “fresh never frozen.” The label also advertises that these are “ready in minutes.”
Fremont Fish Market Crab Cakes are an Aldi Find. That means they’re only in stores for a short time. Each store should receive one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone until whenever Aldi decides to bring them back. You can’t order these online from Aldi if they’re out of stock at your local store.
We buy Aldi products for review using our own money. I paid $5.99 for a 12-ounce package in 2025. That comes out to about 50 cents per ounce. There are four crab cakes per package, which comes out to about $1.50 per crab cake.
These are a product of the U.S. The fish was wild caught in FAO fishing zone 71 using nets and traps.
If you’re looking out for allergens, these contain crustacean shellfish (crab, fish (pollock, whiting), wheat, soy, egg, and milk.
One crab cake equals one serving. One crab cake with 1 tablespoon of the included sauce will net you 223 calories, 15 grams of total fat (19% DV), 1.5 grams of saturated fat (8% DV), 698 mg of sodium (30% DV), 16 grams of total carbohydrates (6% DV), 1 gram of dietary fiber (4% DV), 4 grams of total sugars, 2 grams of added sugars (3% DV), and 4 grams of protein.
If you eat a crab cake without the sauce, it’s 210 calories, 570 mg of sodium, 13 grams of total carbs, and 2 grams of added sugars.

The package has directions for heating these in a conventional oven or in an air fryer.
To bake, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Remove the crab cakes from the package and place them directly on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 16 minutes or until crab cakes reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
To air fry, heat the air fryer to 375 degrees. Remove the crab cakes from the package and place directly in the frying basket. Place in the air fryer for 11 minutes or until crab cakes reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

I chose to air fry these. They browned nicely on the outside.
Your personal preference may differ, but my family and I didn’t care as much for these. Of all the crab cakes Aldi has sold, these are my least favorite. They’re more bready than I expected, and they’re a bit mushy. They’re not bad, but just okay.
The Verdict:
Fremont Fish Market Crab Cakes are sold refrigerated and come with cocktail sauce for dipping. They cook up quickly in the air fryer or in a regular oven. They’re on the mushy side, with a bready texture, and we think Aldi sells other crab cakes that are better than these. We’re glad we tried these, but we won’t be buying them again.
