Aldi’s got some options when it comes to food preservation, whether it’s through canning or dehydrating. If you want to dry fruit, veggies, meat, or herbs, Aldi sells the Ambiano Digital Food Dehydrator.
What We Know:
The Ambiano Digital Food Dehydrator (product code 95449) sold for $29.99 in September of 2019. It sold for the same price in 2018 and in 2017. That’s cheaper than most other versions we’ve seen.
It’s an ALDI Find (Special Buy), so it’s only in stores for a short time.
Aldi also has sold a different food dehydrator that appears to not have digital features for $24.99 in January of 2019 and for $19.99 in December of 2017.
Features of the Ambiano Digital Food Dehydrator sold in September of 2019 include:
- Dries fruits, vegetables, meats (jerky), herbs and more
- Five adjustable/stackable, transparent trays
- Digital display for timer and temperature
- Built-in fan maximizes air flow
- Automatic switch-off
- 2-year warranty
The dehydrator comes with a top cover, five removable and interchangeable trays, a base, and an instruction manual.
You can find a link to an online manual for the digital food dehydrator here. It contains recipes for drying fruit, making fruit leather, drying veggies, drying herbs, and making jerky, along with information about how to pack and store the finished food products.
After-sales support is provided by Wachsmuth & Krogmann, which is headquartered in Hong Kong with U.S. operations out of Chicago.
What We Don’t Know:
We haven’t tested this model — that’s why it’s an open thread instead of a full review — so we can’t speak to how it performs. We also don’t know much about longevity, or how it compares to previous model years.
Have experience with this digital food dehydrator? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
I am using it for the first time tonight with apple slices. So far, so good. It still has 13 hours left of 16 (although I don’t think it will take that long) according to the owners manual. The instructions are rather lengthy and a bit out of order when it comes to information of importance. For example, on page 12. it says “First Use.” and on page 13 it says “Heating the device before first use.” I kind of wish the instructions were more step by step, and with images like an Ikea model to better understand all the WARNINGS and DO NOTs. I think it is much more easy to use than the instructions lead you to believe.
Have made one lot of fruit leather (reason for purchasing) and was happy with out come. Used sheet of screening that I cut to size but want to purchase actual fruit leather trays with a lip. If anyone knows what size or brand will fit would appreciate the heads up. My Cuisinare brand came with a tray.
Can’t change the settings
To high tech….complicated
Don’t have a clear step by step
Can’t say about longevity, but so far, this is a solid little dehydrator! Would love for the temp to be able to go a tad higher than 160, but otherwise, this is a great machine especially for the price point.
I’ve had mine for about three years now. It’s been a great little dehydrator have done everything from herbs to jerky. However, today I did celery and so far so good except for it wants to throw up an error code that I can’t troubleshoot. If anybody knows how to fix this or what it means, please let me know.
Hi joann I was wondering did u get a reply about your ambiano dehydrator mine has the error code & I can’t figure out how to fix it
Can someone tell me how I can get a replacement cover for my Dehydrator? I pulled it out to use and the cover is broken and I can not use it ;( . Thanks for any help I can get.
We also have a broken top cover. Did you find a source?
No I did not. I put in the trash.
Live & learn. Guess I’ll do the same. Thank you for replying!
I have 3 dehydrators and this is the only digital one I have. I like the digital one better. I wish I had gotten another one for the price. I use it to dehydrate sweet potatoes for Christmas presents for my neighbor dogs and my own. They love them. I just started dehydrating chicken for the dogs, which they love. Plus I save a lot of money doing it myself. Where can I purchase another one for a reasonable price?
Hi I purchased model FD-319 food dehydrator. All of my stacking tray are all broken. They have collapsed. I noticed when I first used it little bits of the trays would be in the bottom of the dehydrator. They have always been washed in warm soapy water then put in dehydrator for 5 minutes to dry off before I put it away. Please tell me where I can purchase these stacking trays from.
I bought this in 2017. This dehydrator is solid still in 2024 after heavy use. Love the temp adjustment from 100 to 160 degrees. Dries food in half the time as older Nesco or older Ronco If I would have known they were not bringing it back I would have purchased 2 more.
Thanks for the info!
