Friendly Farms Non-Dairy Almond Nog

EDITOR’S NOTE: This review is from 2024. Aldi is selling the same almond nog the week of December 4th, 2025, for the same price of $3.79.

Egg nog is a holiday tradition in my house. I always pick up at least one carton of the creamy, spiced drink to enjoy during the season. Aldi has sold various types of traditional egg nog this time of year, and that’s usually where I buy it.

I also noticed Aldi sells a non-dairy almond nog option as well. I picked up a carton of the non-dairy version to give it a try.

Friendly Farms Non-Dairy Almond Nog

Friendly Farms Non-Dairy Almond Nog is an Aldi Find in 2025. That means it gets stocked once, and it’s only in stores for a short time. It appears to vacillate between being an Aldi Find that only gets stocked one time or a Seasonal Product that gets restocked for a few weeks or months. Aldi does not offer online ordering if this is not in stock at your local store.

When this is in stock, you’ll find it in the refrigerated case near the dairy products such as milk and creamers. It’s perishable and should be kept refrigerated.

We bought this ourselves for review. I paid $3.79 for a 59-ounce carton at my local store at the time of writing. That comes out to about 6 cents per ounce. One carton has 14 half-cup servings, which is about 27 cents per serving.

It is certified kosher. If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains almonds.

Ingredients are almond beverage (filtered water, almonds), cane sugar, tricalcium phosphate, natural flavor, fruit juice for color, sea salt, sunflower lecithin, gellan gum, locust bean gum, natural ginger extract, vitamin A palmitate, ergocalciferol (vitamin D2), and DL-alpha tocopherol acetate (vitamin E).

One half-cup serving has 50 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat (2% DV), no saturated fat, 70 mg of sodium (3% DV), 9 grams of total carbohydrates (3% DV), no dietary fiber, 8 grams of total sugars, 8 grams of added sugars (16% DV), and no protein.

The carton advises to shake well before serving. Also, you should use this within 7-10 days of opening.

Friendly Farms Non-Dairy Almond Nog

This is not quite the same as a dairy-based egg nog. It has a much thinner consistency. It doesn’t coat the glass in the same way, or leave a lingering coating in your mouth the way a creamy traditional milk-based egg nog does. It has the classic spices you associate with egg nog, but it also has a slightly different flavor and aftertaste due to the “almond beverage” or almond milk. If you can’t drink a dairy egg nog, though, this is a good alternative.

The Verdict:

Friendly Farms Non-Dairy Almond Nog is an alternative to traditional dairy-based egg nog at Aldi. It has a thinner consistency and a different aftertaste compared to regular egg nog, but it’s a decent substitute if you are avoiding dairy or can’t have dairy.

    1. Internet searches “say” it is, but I can’t find that it’s definitively stated anywhere. It’s not certified GF on the carton. Wheat is not listed as an allergen, but I’m suspicious of the “natural flavor” ingredient. My personal opinion is that it may contain barley, which is a type of gluten. I have Celiac Disease, and I have had a typical glutening reaction for over 24 hours after trying this product. It was the only new food I had that day that I didn’t prepare myself, so I’m personally saying it’s not gluten-free and am avoiding it.

      1. I just tried this and had a reaction as well, I really liked it too. I am gluten intolerant/possibly celiac but am not willing to go thru the testing again as it was done years ago with inconclusive results. I’m better without and that’s what counts. In trying to look up if it was gluten free I did come across almond breeze nog which is labeled gluten free so I’m on the lookout for that. I love the taste of egg nog but not the thickness besides I’m dairy intolerant as well.
