Cats can be some of the most fickle creatures when it comes to trying to predict what products they’ll like and use. I have a handful of cat products — sleeping mats, cardboard houses, and various toys — sitting unused and unloved around my house. Other cat products — like a cube condo I bought earlier this year — get only half-hearted approval from my cat.
One cat accessory stands out above the others in my house, though. Last year, I bought a Heart to Tail Cat Bed from. It came in several designs, and I bought the Dozy Den style, which pops open to create a cozy cave-like hideaway for a cat. Or, it flattens to form a more traditional pet bed.
My elderly cat — we refer to her here as the Aldi Reviewer Cat — wants almost nothing to do with the bed when it’s in cave form, but she sleeps on the flattened, open cat bed almost daily. The bed is in our laundry room, and I’ll often find her sleeping in it when I walk in with a load of clothes to wash. She also sleeps in the laundry room at night and makes use of her bed there.
The same cat bed is returning to Aldi in March of 2022.
The Heart to Tail Dozy Den Cat Bed (Product Code: 54048) cost $9.99 in March of 2022. Aldi also sold an oval Heart to Tail Easy Sleep Cat Bed at the same time, but we don’t own that bed.
This cat bed is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. You can’t order it online if it isn’t in stock at your local Aldi.
Here’s more information about the Dozy Den cat bed, according to Aldi:
- 2-in-1 pet hideaway
- Bed transforms from a hideaway den into a relaxing nuzzler
- Cube shaped when fully assembled as a hideaway den
- Available Gray or Brown
- Spot-clean only
- Durable and high-quality
- Measures 15” x 14” x 16” (assembled)
As mentioned earlier, this bed is a hit with the Aldi Reviewer Cat. She prefers to sleep in it when it’s in the “relaxing nuzzler” form and is pushed down flat to create a cushy open bed. This cat bed is soft and plush, with plenty of padding, which our senior citizen Aldi Reviewer Cat certainly appreciates.
I take a sticky roller to it once in a while to get rid of some of the cat hair. It’s not too difficult to spot clean, and the dark color is nice at hiding any potential stains or dirt. While the label says to spot clean only, it seems like this could be machine washed on the gentle cycle and air dried, although I haven’t tried that, so I can’t make any guarantees that it wouldn’t damage the bed.
Overall, this is a nice pet bed. Whether your own cat would like it depends on your cat …
The Verdict:
The Heart to Tail Dozy Den Cat Bed can be flattened to create a traditional open pet bed, or it can be raised and opened up to form a cave-like hideaway. It’s soft and has plenty of cushioning, and our Aldi Reviewer Cat approves of it.
I bought two of these beds another time they were sold. They are a big hit at my house. I have four cats and one is sleeping in one near me in cave mode as I type this. Three of my cats cuddle with each other in pairs and often two will be cuddled together inside. When the weather warms up I convert them to the open style.
I wash the beds (both together in one load) on the regular setting and dry them in the dryer and they come out fine. The fabric and stitching have held up with no problem. I have pieces of fleece in them to help keep them clean but a certain amount of cat hair gets on the sides and they have come clean when I have washed them. I recommend these beds for anyone with a cat who they think will enjoy them.
