Lacura Face Care Anti-Wrinkle Q10 Night Cream

Back in early April of 2024, I started seeing rumors on Aldi fan social media pages claiming that Aldi was discontinuing its private label Lacura facial care products. The products specifically in question were a night cream, a day cream, and an aqua gel. I couldn’t find any of them at any of my local stores, so we here at Aldi Reviewer did some research, including messaging Aldi to ask what was up. We learned that Aldi was not getting rid of its Lacura line. Instead, the grocer was “reformulating” the products and said they would be back in May with a “new look.”

The month of May arrived, and Aldi began stocking its face care products in stores again. That was good for me because I had run out of the night cream, which I’ve used regularly for years. When these products returned to Aldi stores, I picked up one of each to put them to the test at home and to see how they might have changed since Aldi pulled them and then reintroduced them. The biggest changes appear to be that the day and night creams now contain no added fragrance, and they’re also now sold in all-plastic containers instead of glass jars with plastic lids.

Here, I’m taking a look at the anti-wrinkle night cream from Aldi. All of these creams are sold in a small box that holds a container of cream, as shown below.

The night cream we picked up in early May of 2024 in our local store.

Lacura Face Care Anti-Wrinkle Q10 Night Cream is a Regular Buy, which means you should be able to find it at Aldi all year. It’s stocked in the small personal care product section at Aldi. This was made in Germany. Keep in mind there is no company called Lacura. Instead, that’s the name Aldi puts on its personal care products to give them a uniform look, and those products may be sourced from various suppliers.

This Lacura night cream cost $3.79 for a 1.7-ounce container at the time of writing. That’s about $2.22 per ounce. These creams have been under $4 for a long time, as the low price point is something Aldi Reviewer writer Elizabeth mentioned when she reviewed the day and night creams back in 2017 during our site’s early days.

As I mentioned earlier, the biggest change to this product seems to be that Aldi has removed the fragrance from it. This was not heavily scented before the reformulation, but it had a light, mild scent that I found pleasant. Now, it has nothing other than a clean, plain type of scent.

Another significant change is that this now comes in a plastic container. The old formula was sold in a glass jar with plastic lid. I prefer the glass jar, as it looked nice, and I feel like it was probably better environmentally since it used less plastic. I’m not sure why the decision was made to use an all-plastic container.

The packaging states this is a “rich cream made with Retinol Complex, Coenzyme Q10, and other valuable ingredients that deliver intensive moisture to your skin while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.” The box also states, “This luxurious formula works overnight while your skin is most receptive, leaving skin refreshed and supple in the morning.” It’s described as suitable for all skin types.

This contains several active ingredients:

  • Retinol Complex: helps skin “look and feel younger when used daily,” according to the box. Retinol, according to Cleveland Clinic, helps increase skin cell production. It can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so it’s best to use it at night, and be sure to use sunscreen during the day. Retinol can also irritate skin, so if you haven’t used it before, it’s recommended to test it on your skin first, and use it only once every few days until your skin gets used to it.
  • Coenzyme Q10: a “component found naturally in the body, it works in perfect harmony with your skin and helps provide youthful vibrancy when used daily,” according to the box. Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant.
  • Vitamin E, Provitamin B5, and a Moisturizing complex: makes skin feel “soft and supple,” according to the box.

The box says this was dermatologically tested. It was not tested on animals.

The directions for use indicate you can apply this cream every evening to a clean face, neck, and décolleté and gently massage it in. Avoid contact with eyes, and rinse well with water if eye contact occurs. The box also mentions the “ideal complementary day cream” is Lacura Anti-Wrinkle Q10 Day Cream from Aldi.

This works pretty much the same as the old formula. It did take some time to get used to the lack of fragrance, and I noticed it smelled different as soon as I used the new formula. I’m happy with this and use it nightly, and I’m glad to see it back in stores.

The Verdict:

Lacura Face Care Anti-Wrinkle Q10 Night Cream has recently been reformulated at Aldi, and it now contains no fragrance. The container it is sold in has also changed, from a glass jar with plastic lid to an all-plastic container. Those changes aside, this seems to work as well as the previous formula. It’s an inexpensive part of a nightly skin care routine.

  1. I hadn’t heard the rumors, but I noticed that these 3 products have been out of stock for a couple of months. I love these skin creams and use them daily. I am in my 70s and am frequently told that I have beautiful skin! I was getting nervous that I wouldn’t be able to replace my skin creams when they ran out. Thanks for this info!

      1. Every day I go to my local Aldi store and look for the creams. They have not come back in months. Any idea when Massachusetts will be getting these back in stock? I use them religiously and am on my last jars from several months ago. Please advise.

  2. Me too am looking forward for the Lacura creams to come back..My face likes them ☺️ and I am running out of the night cream…how soon will they come back…I go every week to the ALDI store but the shelves are empty …Moreno Valley, California

  3. Still not stocked in southeast Wisconsin. Had my brother check the new Aldi’s in AR. They were the new ones. I am not happy with the changes to the night cream, seems heavier , I miss the scent and glass jar.

  4. I love all your analysis and your quality level of writing. You are a true treasure. Thank you!

Gratitude aside, I have to say I think it’s a different product. Maybe less of the effective ingredient. I can tell that my skin is not the same level of feeling moisturized and that bums me out.
Do you really think it appears to be the same?
I’d love to see a side by side analysis.

And thanks again! True respect for the talent and commitment of your writing and analysis!

    1. Only Aldi could tell you whether the proportions of active ingredients are different now. As for a side-by-side comparison of the new and old creams, that’s unfortunately impossible to do since the old version is no longer available in stores.
