Open Thread: Easy Home Duck or Frog Cool Mist Humidifier

This post is an open thread

If you need a little help with the air quality in your home, Aldi sells various small appliances throughout the year to help you. Whether you’re looking for an air conditioner, and air purifier or a dehumidifier, or a humidifier, you only need to wait a few months to spot appliances like these at your favorite discount grocer.

As we head into the winter months, a common challenge many households deal with is dry air, which can irritate your eyes, nose, throat, and skin. It can worsen asthma symptoms or dry skin symptoms. The solution is to use a humidifier. Some people install whole-house humidifiers that are integrated into your plumbing and the blower system in your furnace. Other people opt to simply purchase small humidifiers that can be plugged into an electrical outlet and used in a single room or moved around to different rooms as needed.

Aldi has sold a wide range of portable, single-room humidifiers over the years, including a cool mist humidifier, an LED ultrasonic humidifier, and a portable cool mist humidifier that uses a standard plastic water bottle. Sometimes Aldi sells humidifiers with a whimsical touch that are perfect for using in a nursery or child’s bedroom. For instance, in the fall of 2020, Aldi sold humidifiers that looked like foxes or unicorns.

This year, in 2021, Aldi is once again selling humidifiers that appeal to the younger crowd, or to the young at heart. This year’s humidifiers look like a duck or a frog.

What We Know:

Easy Home Duck or Frog Cool Mist Humidifier

The Easy Home Duck or Frog Cool Mist Humidifier cost $29.99 at the time of publication. That’s on the lower end of prices for humidifiers, and it’s cheaper than any other children’s humidifiers I spotted on the market. If you want a humidifier that looks like an animal, you may not find them any cheaper than the Aldi Easy Home ones.

These are an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a short time, and Aldi does not offer online ordering after these sell out at your local store.

These are fun-looking little gadgets. The duck is yellow with a bright orange bill and feet, while the green frog has big eyes that stick up off the top of the humidifier. They’re both adorable, but I’m partial to the frog myself.

At $29.99, the duck and frog humidifiers cost the same as 2020’s fox and unicorn humidifiers at Aldi.

Here’s more info on the 2021 humidifiers from Aldi:

  • These help provide moisture in the air for easier breathing caused by dry air
  • Essential oil compatible
  • No filter required
  • Adjustable steam output
  • The auto-off function activates when water tank is empty
  • Effectively humidifies rooms up to 269 square feet
  • Removable 1 gallon tank easily fits under fits under most bathroom sinks
  • Ultrasonic cool mist increases moisture in the air for easier breathing and a good night’s sleep

In addition, the Duck humidifier features an LED Color Changing Night-Light, claims to run whisper quiet up to 10.5 hours, and measures 8.3″ x 7.7″ x 10.8″.

The Frog humidifier claims to run whisper quiet up to 12 hours and measures 9″ x 9.3″ x 11.4″.

Both humidifiers also come with a two-year warranty.

What We Don’t Know:

We have not tried the Easy Home Duck or Frog Cool Mist Humidifier, so we don’t know how well either one works. Our goal with open thread posts such as this one is to offer a space for readers to share about their experiences with a product.

I just got the duck one from my local Aldi. It worked for a few hours during the day, and at bedtime wouldn’t work. Had half a tank full of water, tried different outlets, filled it, and still nothing. Was really hoping it would work. Off to hopefully return it tomorrow

  2. I got one at my local Aldi today, cute and works nice. However I was disappointed to learn it’s easily found on Alibaba for ~$9.

  3. We got the duck one – I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to turn off the color changing light, as I think it’s actually waking my kiddo up – haven’t figured out a way yet. The humidifier part works fine, and he loves how cute it is.

  4. I bought the duck one and it worked well the first night but in the morning woke up to find it wouldn’t work anymore. It’s not pushing out the mist.

    • I got the duck humidifier for my daughter and the frog for my son. They both worked great for a few cycles but I went to fill them today and the tabs that hold the screw lid for filling all broke off. I can’t use them now. It’s very disappointing.

  5. We have been using the duck humidifier for several nights now. While it’s technically functioning, it doesn’t seem to be making any difference in the humidity of the air. It gets very dry in our house in winter and this has not helped at all. I have other humidifiers that do, so I know its just this one. My son wanted it for his room since he loves ducks. It just seems to go through twice as much water and not add any humidity! it’s annoying to fill too because the top is round, so you can’t set it down to fill it. Also I don’t like that you cannot use it without the color changing light. It gets annoying and distracting.

  6. This has been the first product for us that wasn’t a good buy. After using it for a month the frog humidifier we purchased tab with the spring on the bottom of the tank no long works at pushing the plunger up.
