One of my go-to breakfasts of late is toast made with Aldi Graintastic or Knock Your Sprouts Off bread. I spread it with a bit of butter alternative, peanut butter, and fruit spread. It’s a satisfying blend of whole grains and filling peanut butter, with a bit of sweetness from the jam. It keeps me satisfied until lunch time, so I’m not tempted to hunt down snacks mid morning.

Lately, I’ve also been on a natural peanut butter kick. A lot of traditional store-bought peanut butter contains added sugar and other extra ingredients. Natural peanut butter, on the other hand, contains just peanuts and salt.

I’ve tried natural peanut butter from Aldi before, but it’s been a few years. So, recently I decided to give it another go.

Simply Nature Organic Creamy Peanut Butter is a Regular Buy. That means you should be able to find it at Aldi all year.

We bought this with our own funds and paid $4.39 for a 16-ounce container in 2025. That comes out to around 27 cents per ounce.

I found name-brand Smuckers Natural Peanut Butter selling for $4.12 for 16 ounces on Walmart’s website at the time of writing. That comes out to about 26 cents per ounce. So, you might find name-brand natural peanut butter for slightly less than the Aldi natural peanut butter; it might depend on sales cycles for name brands. You may be paying a little more for the Aldi peanut butter because it’s organic.

This Aldi peanut butter is a product of Canada. It’s kosher, non GMO, unsweetened, gluten free, USDA Organic, and certified organic by Quality Assurance International.

Ingredients are organic peanuts and sea salt. If you’re looking out for allergens, naturally, this contains peanuts.

One container has about 14 two-tablespoon servings. One serving has 190 calories, 16 grams of total fat (21% DV), 2.5 grams of saturated fat (13% DV), 50 mg of sodium (2% DV), 7 grams of total carbohydrates (3% DV), 3 grams of dietary fiber (11% DV), 2 grams of total sugars, no added sugars, and 8 grams of protein.

If you’re unaccustomed to eating natural peanut butter, you may be surprised when you first open this. It will be very liquid-y on top, with a solid paste on the bottom. That’s because the oils from the peanuts separate. They have to be mixed back together, and you have to thoroughly stir the peanut butter every time you use it. I find a butter knife works well for this.

Even after natural peanut butter is thoroughly mixed, it has a thinner consistency than regular grocery store peanut butter, so keep that in mind if you’re wanting to pack a sandwich for lunch using this.

I found the Aldi peanut butter to be a little harder to properly mix. When I first opened the Aldi peanut butter, the material on the bottom of the container was stubbornly hard. Despite some earnest stirring, I couldn’t get it as smooth as I would have liked. The plastic jar this is packaged in is a bit flexible, which also adds some to the difficulty of mixing. I often encountered small lumps when I ate this peanut butter on toast.

Fortunately, as I continued to use — and stir — the container of Aldi peanut butter, it gradually mixed up better and was fine, but this was pretty lumpy for at least the first several uses.

Despite the lumps, it’s a decent peanut butter option if you’re looking for something that has minimal ingredients.

The Verdict:

Simply Nature Organic Creamy Peanut Butter contains just two ingredients: organic peanuts and sea salt. Like similar natural peanut butters, you’ll have to stir this well before using it. The Aldi peanut butter tastes good and is a great option if you’re looking for a better-for-you peanut butter.

  1. This pb is my go to now if I can’t get to the fresh ground in the bulk section of my local grocery store. The last few times I bought this I started pouring the oil out because I didn’t feel I really needed it & I see that and I think cholesterol. It’s much better for sandwiches or toast because it’s no longer running off the bread lol. I’m not a fan of stirring but I do still give it a stir to mix in the remaining oil. I have tried the smuckers and that one is a workout when it comes to stirring. The Aldi brand works and is priced very well.

    1. That’s interesting. If you’re pouring out some of the oil, I’m curious to know if the peanut butter gets too hard as you use it up and get toward the bottom of the container.

      1. If you make sure the lid is on REALLY tight and turn the jar over, it won’t separate. Just open the first time and stir really well and turn over and store upside down!

        1. That’s an interesting tip. I might set my upside down peanut butter jar in a bowl or small tray just to make sure any leaks are contained.

          1. Yep. I have an old tupperware lid I put mine on. Just have a paper towel or napkin handy once you turn it over and open it in case of drips. I’ve been doing it for years and it’s second nature to me now.

  2. There was a small portion that was still thick from not stirring fully but it wasn’t hard. I have done the jar upside down as well to prevent having to stir again.

  3. We love this peanut butter! We store it upside down, then lay it on it’s side 2-3 days before we need it. Turn it right-side up the day we’ll open it. That usually makes it easier to stir.
