Season’s Choice Eggplant Fries
EDITOR’S NOTE: We most recently reviewed these in the spring of 2025. Aldi sold them again in August and December of 2025 for the same price of $4.99 for 16 ounces.
If you’re in the mood for an alternative to French fries, Aldi rotates several options through its limited-time special freezer case. I’ve seen veggie fries, crispy green beans, and tempura crinkle-cut zucchini.
One long-time favorite of mine is the boxed eggplant fries that Aldi sells at least a couple of times per year. While Aldi does not stock these eggplant fries all the time, Aldi has been selling them on and off for a long time. We first wrote about them here at Aldi Reviewer back in 2017, in the early days of our site. Aldi often sells these alongside some breaded eggplant cutlets that are also good.
I always pick up a box or two when I see these eggplant fries, and when I bake them at home, I end up sneaking several fries before I call my family to the dinner table. They are that good.
Season’s Choice Eggplant Fries are an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and once that sells out, they’re gone until whenever Aldi decides to bring them back. You can’t order them online if they’re not currently in stock at your local store.
We buy Aldi products for review using our own funds. I paid $4.99 for a 16-ounce box in March of 2025. I also spotted them in stores again in August and December of 2025 for the same price. That’s around 31 cents per ounce. With five servings in the box, it’s around $1 per serving.
These eggplant fries with Italian-style breading are advertised as “the perfect way to enjoy your veggies.”
The box has Aldi’s Premium Quality seal, indicating the veggies go from “field to frozen for locked in freshness.”
These are a product of the Dominican Republic.

If you’re looking out for allergens, these contain wheat.
The full ingredients list is eggplant, soybean oil, wheat flour, water, corn flour, salt, dextrose, corn starch, spices, garlic powder, dehydrated parsley, onion powder, extracts of paprika and annatto, and natural flavors.
One box has about five 3-ounce servings. One serving has 170 calories, 9 grams of total fat (12% DV), 4 grams of saturated fat (20% DV), 280 mg of sodium (12% DV), 21 grams of total carbohydrates (8% DV), 2 grams of dietary fiber (7% DV), 1 gram of total sugars, less than 1 gram of added sugars (2% DV), and 2 grams of protein.
You have three ways to prepare the fries: air fryer, conventional oven, or deep frier.
To air fry (my preferred method), preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place a single layer of the frozen fries in the basket. Cook for 5-8 minutes, turning over halfway through the cooking process.
To bake, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Remove fries from the package and arrange frozen fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 28 minutes, turning once. Let stand for 1 minute before serving.
To deep fry, place frozen fries in the fryer at 350 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Let stand for 1 minute before serving.
The box also includes a serving suggestion for cheesy eggplant fries, recommending that you melt mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top of the fries and then dip them in marinara sauce. Marinara sauce is a Regular Buy at Aldi stores, so this serving suggestion sounds tempting, but I haven’t yet tried it.

These come out of the air fryer or oven crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The breading is full of flavor and the eggplant has a good, mild flavor. One of my kids likes to dip her eggplant fries in ketchup, but I enjoy them as they are without any dips.
The Verdict:
Season’s Choice Eggplant Fries bake up nice and crisp in the oven and are a nice change from traditional potato-based French fries. Recommended.

We bought this product (Veggie eggplant fries) a long time ago and loved them. So, when I decided to get another box, I couldn’t find it. I’ve been looking at Aldi’s ever since and have not seen it again. That’s the down side of aldi’s, if you find something you like and it’s a one time buy, you can’t ever have it again. I really wish they would stock it again.
VERY GOOD.

Yes, so true. I’ve gone to several locations with no success. The eggplant cutlets are delicious as well. Maybe we need to write this one to the company.
I agree… Give me some eggplant fries….
Here’s contact info for Aldi so you can actually let them know your request: https://www.aldireviewer.com/contact-aldi/

Yes, I loved them and hope they get them again. I guess I was lucky because I bought them a few times. Hit or miss. Try their Mamma Cozzis veggie pizza too. I was impressed. Best frozen pizza I ever had.
These are returning to Aldi the week of September 4th, 2024, while supplies last. They’re $4.99.
