Aldi Bringing a Revamped Ambiano Single-Serve Coffee Maker to Stores

EDITOR’S NOTE: This coffee maker was recalled in August of 2024 over burn risks. You can read about the recall — and how to get a refund — right here

Keurig is one of those brand names that is nearly synonymous with the product. It’s what Instant Pot is to programmable pressure cookers, what Google is to searching, what Crock Pot is to slow cookers, what Kleenex is to tissue, and what Xerox used to be to copy machines. If people say they’re looking for a Keurig, they’re referring to a single-serve coffee maker that is often (but not always) made by Keurig.

Keurig machines, and their imitators, are best known for their use of K-cup pods. These pods were first designed to make single servings of coffee, and later other hot drinks as well, including tea. Most offices today have such a single-serve maker.

Aldi has been selling imitation Keurigs for years. We wrote about one back in 2018, and again with a more recent iteration in 2022. The 2018 and 2022 versions were largely similar save for some small tweaks. However, in 2023 Aldi marched out a revamped version of such a machine.

What We Know:

Ambiano Single Serve Coffee MakerThe Ambiano Single-Serve Coffee Maker is an Aldi Find. It’s only in stores for a limited time, and once stores are sold out, you won’t be able to get one again until they come back, whenever that might be. Aldi does not offer online ordering if a product is sold out at your local store.

At the time of this post, the coffee maker costs $49.99. For comparison, the previous Ambiano Single-Serve Coffee Makers were $19.99 in 2018, $24.99 in 2019, $29.99 in 2020-2021, and then $34.99 in early 2022 before dropping back to $29.99 in late 2022.

However, this model is fundamentally different in design from the previous model. The biggest difference: what appears to be a removable water tank. It also appears to come in several colors.

What We Don’t Know:

While we’ve used a couple of generations of Aldi imitation Keurigs, we haven’t tried out this latest model. We’ve created this open thread for users to share their experiences.

  1. I purchased this Ambiano coffee maker.
It works well. It makes two sizes: 8 oz and 12 oz.
It brews a little slower than your traditional Keurig machine but it makes a good cup of coffee. It’s relatively small and light. We took it on vacation and made the coffee we like at home at our vacation spot.
The tank is removable which is nice. How’s it’s not a large capacity tank. It needs to be filled every 2-3 cups that you make.
The Ambiano comes with a 3-year warranty. Your receipt will display your warranty.
    For $49.99 I’m saying it’s a winner.

  2. I purchased this and set it up. Had one of the older models a few years ago and thought this would be like that or better. Rather disappointed as it sounded like a pump pushing the water through, very loud and vibrated. Then as I would use it to fill travel mug, when removing the bottom plate, there is a bump where the tray sits in right where the mug would sit. I returned it, designer flaw and noise. I also felt it brewed very slowly.

  3. Just got the newer model, last one on the shelf, in light pink. It will be great for my office as I enjoy afternoon tea or coffee. The color matches my office fridge which is a happy accident. The motor sounds powerful and it brews plenty fast for me. Like the 8 or 12 oz choices. Also like the option of using my own loose coffee in the included filter cup. The temp is just right also. I appreciate the quality of this unit. The materials are of a nicer “feeling” plastic than even the similar sized Keurigs. The instructions were excellent and not over the top. I paid $37.99 and am pleased as I read they had been $49.99. **My Corksicle travel cup fits under the spout with the tray removed. There is a small “bump” but the cup fits perfectly behind it**

  4. Worst coffee maker on the market. I have had 2 pink ones. Both have exploded with water and coffee grinds coming out the sides. Not to mention getting burned by the flying coffee grounds. I have pictures, but I don’t know how to post them on this comments board.

    1. Throw it out. Exact same thing happened to me, then suddenly it “appeared” to be working, then it exploded. No good.

  5. This was gifted to us. After the third use it “blew up”. That’s right, right in my face. I suspect something inside building up pressure failed. Luckily, the plastic housing contained the blast which I suppose is a great thing. I would only purchase this for someone with a weak heart you want to kill… For that purpose, 5 stars! It was scary, a loud pop and the thing jumped 6 inches with my face about 12″ away.
