It’s always interesting to see Aldi selling affordable imitations of pricey name-brand products. Over the years, I’ve seen Aldi sell dupes of Always Pans, Caraway Pans, Pottery Barn décor, and IKEA goods. And that’s just in the non-food aisle. In the food department, Aldi shamelessly imitates everything from King’s Hawaiian Rolls to popular breakfast cereals.

One of the latest items to arrive at Aldi is a covered stoneware baking dish that looks similar to some covered casserole dishes that Le Creuset sells. Le Creuset is a French cookware brand known for premium products and premium prices. A couple of summers ago, a relative and I spent a few minutes browsing in a Le Creuset store while we were shopping at an outlet mall. The products were beautiful, but they’re not the kinds of kitchen items that most people can just drop money on.

Aldi has been known to sell Le Creuset dupes in the past, including covered pumpkin-shaped casserole dishes in the fall. While they may not be exactly the same or have all of the same features as their Le Creuset counterparts, the tradeoff may be worthwhile to some people considering how much less the Aldi versions cost.

What We Know:

Crofton Covered Stoneware Baking Dish

The Crofton Covered Stoneware Baking Dish (Product Code: 705919) cost $14.99 in February of 2023. Similar covered casserole dishes from Le Creuset cost $100 or more. The Aldi dish is also less than most covered casserole dishes on Amazon.

This baking dish is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a limited time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back at some point. Aldi doesn’t have online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your local store.

The Aldi baking dish is sold under the Crofton brand, which is not a company. It’s the private label Aldi uses for various kitchen products such as frying pans, ramen noodle bowls, divided serving trays, and more.

Here’s more information about the baking dish, according to Aldi:

  • Functional stoneware perfect for oven to table
  • Easy to clean
  • Oven safe up to 356 °F
  • Dimensions: 10.75″ x 9.25″ x 5.12″
  • Available in Beige, Blue, or Lavender

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t purchased this baking dish, so we don’t know how well it works or how it holds up to use in the oven. We write open threads so readers can discuss Aldi products.
