Aldi Serving Up an Ambiano Electric Glass Kettle

Not long ago, I saw a thread on social media where people from England talked about their visits to America. In multiple cases, these overseas visitors reacted with horror upon realizing that their American hosts used teapots over a stove. As it turns out, electric kettles have become so popular in the British Isles that many Brits view old stove-heated teapots as nigh barbaric.

They probably wouldn’t appreciate the way my wife and I boil water for tea in a metal teapot over a gas range.

Slowly but surely, modern technology is coming to America. Electric tea kettles are readily available online and in stores, and I’ve even seen a few of them in the wild. Aldi US has sold plenty of traditional kettles, but now the grocer is getting in on the electric act.

What We Know:

Ambiano Electric Glass Kettle

The Ambiano Electric Glass Kettle (Product Code: 703009) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. At the time of this post, the kettle costs $18.99. That’s cheaper than most of the kettles I can find online, so it appears to be a pretty good deal.

This is the first time we can recall seeing this specific product at Aldi. Aldi has sold an electric ceramic kettle in years past, but we don’t have any record of a glass version.

The kettle is good for about 1.7 liters of water. That’s equivalent to around 57 ounces, or a little more than 7 cups.

Here’s more information on the kettle, according to Aldi:

  • Available in White or Black
  • Auto shut off and boil dry protection
  • LED indicator light when in use
  • 360° power base with cord storage
  • High-quality borosilicate glass
  • Secure lid stays in place while pouring
  • Wide opening for easy cleaning and filling
  • Leading thermostat technology

The electric glass kettle comes with a three-year warranty serviced by Sensio. Sensio — which recently renamed itself Made By Gather — focuses on kitchenware products. Sensio has been the warranty provider on several other Aldi products, including a rotating waffle maker, a mini-waffle maker, a countertop electric griddle, and a smokeless grill. Made By Gather’s other brands include Bella, Crux, and and Brim.

What We Don’t Know:

We plan on buying and reviewing one of these if we can get our hands on one. If and when we do, we’ll link to it through this post. Until then, we won’t know how well this kettle works or how long it might last.

Stay tuned.

  1. I bought one of these electric glass kettles today, but am returning it. The small filter piece on the spout is plastic. I thought it was going to be metal. Does not say if the plastic is BPA free. I wanted to stay away from plastic touching or seeping into the hot water, so I was disappointed in this kettle.
