Soda is a special sometimes-treat in our household. We tend to save it for weekends or celebratory occasions, since it’s often loaded with more sugar than your typical dessert and is terrible for your dental health and overall health. When we do indulge, we have certain favorites such as Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, root beer, and certain fruity sodas.

Sometimes we also enjoy sparkling water or sparkling juice beverages such as sparkling cider.

While we usually have to buy these beverages at a grocery store, Aldi is selling a limited-edition machine that allows you to make them at home. Now you can concoct soda or sparkling drinks right in your own kitchen.

What We Know:

Ambiano Sparkling Water & Soda Maker

The Ambiano Sparkling Water & Soda Maker (Product Code: 708377) cost $44.99 in March of 2023. That’s cheaper than most other sparkling water and soda makers on Amazon, and it’s a lot less than name-brand SodaStream machines.

This is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back at some later point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are not in stock at your local store.

This is sold under the Ambiano brand, which is not a company but is an Aldi private label mainly for various kitchen products such as electric grills and toasters. We have, however, recently seen Aldi use the Ambiano brand for household goods such as a desktop vacuum and even a small sewing machine.

Here’s more information about the machine, according to Aldi:

  • Features easy non-electric push button design
  • Available Colors: Blue, White, or Black
  • Fits standard size CO2 Screw in cylinders
  • CO2 cylinders not included; see packaging for ordering info

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t yet tried this sparkling water & soda maker, so we don’t know how easy it is to use or how well it works. We write open threads so readers can discuss Aldi products.

  1. Hello! Any idea who the manufacturer might be?

    • If an Aldi product comes with a warranty, sometimes you can get an idea of who the manufacturer is by looking at who services the warranty. Unfortunately, Aldi hasn’t published any information on that at the time this post was written.

  2. I bought it yesterday and was extremely disappointed. The “head” moved when I tried to detach the bottle. It also did nothing-as in did not carbonate at all. I unscrewed and rescrewed the tank probably 10x. Water was between the 2 fill lines. Had to go buy the tank-they do offer a deal on a brand with only so-so reviews off a website. Do not recommend.

    • You must use one of the 3 brass adapters that is included.

      • I purchased the soda maker in black on Friday the 17th, 2 days after it became available. I ordered 3 canisters through the QR code provided both on the box and in the instruction manual. They are from Soda Sense, not to be confused with Soda Stream. The QR code automatically gives an Aldi discount on the new canisters and a future discount on refills through their refill program and free shipping. The canisters arrived on Wednesday, the 22nd. I immediately tried to make sparkling water in the included 1 Litre bottle following the directions as printed for the screw in canister. NOTHING!! Disassembled and re-assembled numerous times and NOTHING!! So I called the included “After Sales Support” number provided (866) 235-5029 and spoke with a supervisor named John. He was rude from the start, had me repeat the steps I had already done numerous times. Then his only response was “machine is not working and return it to Aldi for a refund.” I stated that Aldi was already sold out since it was an “Aldi Find” and that the warranty stated “3 years from date of purchase Free repair/exchange OR refund, No shipping or handling costs”. He constantly talked over me, refusing to listen to what I was saying. After I hung up, I decided one last thing before boxing it back up. The machine comes with 3 small brass adapters with separate instructions that state the adapters on necessary for Soda Stream cardridges only. I tried using one of the adapters and VOILA, the machine works BEAUTIFULLY!! Once again, the instructions are not accurate and even after sales support did not suggest to try adapters.

        • Thanks for the info. In our years of experience using Aldi products, Aldi warranty providers often don’t have replacements and will simply offer a refund. Glad you figured out how to get yours working.

        • thank you so much for the tip. mine stopped working a couple of days ago and I have been trying to find tips to fix it. So glad you posted!

  3. Thanks. This was helpful. I would rather pay more for something that works. I was going to buy one.

  4. Mine works and I’m happy with it, just wondering if they’ll sell replacement bottles separately.

  5. I bought a black one. It worked twice..I took it back and ordered a good one! After I put all the money in the lotus starter and the co2 tanks, I had no choice.

  6. Hello can you purchase cola flavors to use in this somewhere? How much do you get out of a tank you much purchase? Thank you

    • Soda Stream and other manufacturers sell flavoring syrups to make versions of “coke, 7up, dr. pepper,” etc. Also flavorings that do not contain any form or sweetener, just flavor such as raspberry, orange, blackberry, lemon, lime, etc. are available. Each bottle is around $5. You can purchase them in some Walmart and Best Buy stores. Online- Walmart.com, Amazon, Soda Stream, etc. The CO2 canisters state each canister can make “up to” 60 liters of sparkling water, “up to”. Most videos I watched from consumers stated it’s actually more like 50 liters. I personally have not emptied my first canister and we make 1 every day.

  7. The instructions said hold down until you hear a loud buzz. I held for like 5 minutes. I eventually just stopped, and pressed the release button as introduced. Is it supposed to be like this? I haven’t used other soda makers before. It did make soda water but standing there pressing down forever doesn’t seem normal…

  8. I have found that the instruction manual is not totally accurate, possibly written for a previous model. I came to this conclusion after watching numerous videos on several models made by Soda Stream. The Ambiano model has a gauge on top. It does not buzz, instead you read the gauge to determine the amount if carbonation you desire for your personal preference. Do not hold the button down constantly, instead “pulse” it, 3 seconds or so, release, repeat til the gauge reads your preference of carbonation or until you hear a slight “hiss”. You’ve reached max. Then press the rear “pressure release” button, then slowly remove bottle.

    • Thank you! Did the same thing, not sure how long to hold down…will try again with the pulse and watch gauge.

  9. Husband and I just purchased ours this week in white (I think it looks nice, hubs has no opinion on these things). I was too excited to try it so I didn’t want to wait to order soda sense canisters, I bought a soda stream “spare” from Target. I was trying to figure out where the spare adapters go on the canister, but did not need them at all. Screwed it in, pressed the button until the gauge showed that it was the right amount of bubbly, then pressed the other button to decompress to zero and it worked perfectly. So far, so good. We will continue to use this weekly, and if it continues to work as well as it does now, we have some summer birthdays and house warming gifts we’re keeping these in mind for. We are going to try muddling fresh herbs and berries from this year’s garden for seltzers and homemade mojitos and summer cocktails. I will try to update this to let you know if it holds up or goes kaput.

    • My kids bought one of the machines from Aldi for me for Mother’s Day (ok, I may have bought it as soon as I saw it on sale and will have my kids give it to me on mother’s day 🤣). Then I saw the cartridges on sale at Target and was about to buy some extras, but there was a “pink” and a “blue” cartridge. Since I haven’t received my gift yet (I hid it and will give it to the kids to give to me this weekend) I didn’t know which one would work. Do you remember or anyone know? Thanks

  10. I purchased the unit on Friday last week and received the Soda Sense CO2 cartridges today (Wednesday). It can’t be easier to set up and use. Pretty much on the scale with changing a light bulb. I pressed the button about 3 pulses and the gauge read between Bold and Moderate. It’s great. No fuss, it’s that easy. I you can find one by now, grab it!

  11. Hi, I think the blue (screw on) is correct as the pink is a quick connect type. Also if you bought the Soda Stream brand you will need to attach the small brass adapters that came in the box from Aldi. I sent away for the Soda Sense brand that didn’t need the adapters. I hope that helps. Enjoy

  12. Went to Target today with a “sodastream” empty – which is $15 over a new cartridge at $30 (screw top for compatibility). Came home, followed the instructions and nothing happened. Checked the depth with the button to release gas. It was a bit off. If you screw the sodastream cartridge a bit tighter, the gas will work! Made a bottle of diet “Dr. Pete” from Target and it worked fine. Just really, twist the gas cartridge tight if it is sodastream. Perhaps the other company offered on the package will be better?

  13. Where can I get an instruction manual?

  14. I bought the soda stream years ago and love it. Its a bit of a hassle making my ‘fuzzy water’ but I love the taste so I dealt with it. Then I bought the Aldi version. What a difference! Its easier and faster to use than my soda stream. I will be very sad if it ever dies on me. I hope Aldi brings it back. I’ll buy another to have it on hand.

Also, its lightweight. I brought with me on vacation!
