Lacura Snapshot Ready Foundation Primer

Aldi stores in the United Kingdom and in Australia have sold makeup for years. However, Aldi in the U.S. has offered only a limited selection of beauty products in recent years, including occasional lip balm as well as day and night creams.

That changed in February of 2022 when Aldi US sold primer, eye shadow, and mascara as limited-time specials. I bought one of each to try at home with my daughter. Here, we’re looking more closely at one of the primers Aldi sold.

Lacura Snapshot Ready Primer Foundation

Lacura Snapshot Ready Foundation Primer cost $3.99 for a 1-ounce tube (30 ml) at the time of publication. That’s cheaper than what you’d pay for other primer brands at retailers such as Target.

The Lacura primer is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials after they’ve sold out at your local store.

It was made in China and was available in several varieties, all sold in 1-ounce tubes:

  • Foundation Primer
  • Illuminating Primer
  • Redness Reducing Primer
  • Pore Minimizing Primer

I bought the Foundation Primer to try.

The foundation primer package states:

A silky smooth foundation primer that creates the perfect canvas for makeup. Blur the look of pores and fine lines to become photo-ready in a flash.

The back of the tube also states that this is a clear formula that helps to create a smooth base to improve the look of foundation on the skin.

It’s interesting that Aldi decided to sell primer, which is meant to be used prior to applying foundation, and yet they did not sell foundation as well. It’s not the first time the grocer has sold a product that required customers to buy something else not available at Aldi.

This primer includes vitamins A and E, grape seed extract, and green tea leaf extract.

To use, apply a pea-sized amount before foundation, starting in the center of the face and blending outward.

Lacura Snapshot Ready Primer Foundation

This primer has a clear, gel-like consistency.

My teen daughter and I applied a small amount of the Lacura primer before putting on some name-brand L’Oréal Paris foundation. The primer is indeed clear, with a gel-like consistency. It is smooth and goes on easily. It also doesn’t have much in the way of a scent.

I’m not a big makeup person, so your mileage may vary with Aldi makeup, depending on how heavily you apply it. I leaned toward the lighter side when trying all these products.

Lacura makeup

Me with Lacura primer, a small amount of name-brand foundation, some Lacura mascara, and a little Lacura eyeshadow.

The primer was easy enough to use and feels fine on my face. I don’t wear makeup often, and I’m not sure if this will become part of my regular routine when I do occasionally wear makeup, but I’m happy with it for now. I’ll update this post with any potential new developments.

The Verdict:

Lacura Snapshot Ready Foundation Primer is one of several primer options Aldi is selling for a limited time. This is a clear gel that goes on before you apply foundation, and it helps to hide pores and fine lines. It seems to work fine, but Aldi does not sell foundation, so you’ll have to buy that elsewhere.

  1. You look gorgeous, don’t need additional enhancements! I use the illuminating primer and it’s nice. It doesn’t make my 78 year old face look shiny, just gives me some needed glow. I’m going back for more if they still have it.

  2. It’s August 2022 and I can’t find the primer I purchase to several months ago. How did I know when it’s available.
