Lacura Naturals Smoky Eyeshadow Palette

When the recent weekly Aldi ad indicated the discount grocer would be selling makeup as a limited-time special, Aldi fans got pretty excited. Members of Aldi social media groups began sharing their finds — and sometimes photos of their made-up faces — and talking about how pleased they were to spot makeup on their local Aldi shelves.

I picked up a few makeup products from Aldi — mascara, primer, and eyeshadow — to try with my daughter. Here, I’m taking a closer look at one of the eyeshadow palettes from Aldi.

Lacura Naturals Smoky Eyeshadow Palette

The Lacura Naturals Smoky Eyeshadow Palette cost $5.99 for an array of twelve 0.04-ounce shades (1.08 grams each) at the time of publication. That’s less than what I’d pay for similarly sized eye shadow sets at Target. I’ve seen several Aldi fans on various Facebook groups compare the Lacura eyeshadow to Urban Decay makeup, which also costs more from retailers such as Target.

The Lacura eyeshadows are all an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. (And no, Aldi won’t ship these to you after they sell out at your local store.)

The eyeshadow palettes were made in China and were available in several colors and varieties:

  • Intense, packaged in a red box
  • Two, packaged in a pale blue box
  • Smoky, packaged in a gray box
  • Nectar, packaged in a golden tan box

I bought the smoky palette, and the package waxes a bit poetic:

This palette includes 12 sultry shades that are prefect to accomplish that deep smoky look for a night on the town. A variety of textures including shimmer, matte, and satin, allow you to achieve a wonderful variety of makeup looks that will take you on a midnight journey.

The box also states this eyeshadow has a smooth finish and lightweight texture with a formula that is easy to blend and “feels natural on the skin,” with a shade range that is “perfect for all occasions.”

It’s all packaged in a lovely looking case that feels sturdy and includes a large mirror and a dedicated spot for storing the long-handled applicator brush. It really is a gorgeous package.

An array of colors.

The Smoky palette includes 12 different colors with names that may or may not defy definition:

  • Pure
  • Spice
  • Bronze
  • Fossil
  • Thunder
  • Slate
  • Chainmail
  • Violet
  • Iron
  • Coffee
  • Pink Lace
  • Mallow

To use, apply onto lids and build up a base before seamlessly blending shadows together using the applicator brush. Use darker shades on the crease and lighter hues on the inner corners to accentuate the eyes. Build an extra layer for an amplified and pigmented look.

I’m not a big makeup person, and neither is my daughter, so we’re not ones to consult if you want to see how to make a perfect smoky eye using Aldi eyeshadow. We also don’t apply our makeup with a heavy hand or bold colors. If your tastes are more simple, though, we’re your kind of people. We each just picked one color and applied a light-to-moderate amount to our lids. I used Pure, and my daughter used Spice.

The Pure shade that I used adds very little color, but it has a nice bit of sparkle that catches the light in certain ways.

The Spice shade is only slightly darker than the Pure shade, so it also doesn’t add much in the way of color, but it has sparkle.

If we get more adventurous and try additional colors, I might update this post. The eyeshadow was easy to apply with the included long double-sided brush, and while neither of us wears eyeshadow often, this is a nice color palette with plenty of neutral options that I think we might use for occasional everyday use and certainly for special occasions. It’s also not bad for the price.

The Verdict:

Lacura Naturals Smoky Eyeshadow Palette includes 12 different eyeshadow colors in an attractive case with mirror and long-handled brush. Whether you want to create true smoky eyes with several blended colors, or if you’re just looking for a few simple eyeshadow colors that will go with everything, this set looks like a decent option.
