Maybe you’ve never shopped at Aldi because you didn’t realize how good the food quality is. Or, maybe you’ve never lived near an Aldi store, but one just recently opened in your area and you’re curious.

Regardless of how you come to find yourself roaming the aisles at Aldi, you may wonder what to buy. What are the best deals? The cult favorites? The don’t-miss treats?

Aldi is a great place to buy staples such as milk, eggs, and butter. Aldi also sells some unique products that we love. Below is our unofficial list of must-buys for Aldi newbies. These are some of our favorite Aldi products.

Simply Nature Graintastic Bread

Simply Nature Graintastic Bread — This is comparable to name-brand Dave’s Killer Organic bread, with a lower price.  It’s got a good carbohydrate-to-fiber ratio, all-organic ingredients, and a taste that we like. Read our full review here.

Specially Selected Naan Flatbread

Specially Selected Naan Flatbread — This comes in original or garlic varieties, and you can buy regular-sized or mini versions. It’s good with Indian food, or make flatbread pizzas using Aldi pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, and your favorite pizza toppings. Read our full review here.

Specially Selected Ice Cream

Specially Selected Premium Ice Cream — Available in chocolate and vanilla. This features just five simple ingredients: cream, skim milk, sugar, pasteurized egg yolks, and either vanilla extract or cocoa. If you want ice cream without a lot of unfamiliar, highly processed ingredients, this is a great choice. Read our full review here.

Millville Balance Cereal

Millville Balance Cereal — This tastes exactly like name-brand Life cereal and comes in original or cinnamon flavors. It’s a lot less money than the name brand, too. Read our full review here.

Raisin Bran 1

Millville Raisin Bran — This is a solid substitute for the brand name. It packs a similar taste, and for less than you’ll pay for Kellogg’s or Post. Read our full review here.

Specially Selected Italian Bread

Specially Selected Italian Take & Bake Bread — This bakes up in 10 minutes, has a crisp exterior and a fluffy, airy interior, and it has a nice flavor. We loved it when paired with Italian meats and cheeses in a sandwich, or slice it and sprinkle with butter, garlic powder, and cheese before baking for a few additional minutes for homemade garlic bread. Burman's Cocktail Sauce

Burman’s Cocktail Sauce — This zesty sauce is our favorite. We like it more than many name brand cocktail sauces. Read our full review here.

Giorgio Stuffed Baby Bella Mushrooms

Giorgio Stuffed Baby Bella Mushrooms — These feature small mushroom caps stuffed with a mix of cheese, artichokes, and spinach. They’re great in the air fryer. Read our full review here.

Elevation Only Bars

Elevation Only Bars — These are affordable dupes of name-brand KIND bars. They come in three flavors: Peanut Butter with Dark Chocolate; Nuts & Sea Salt with Dark Chocolate; and Cashew, Cherry with Dark Chocolate. These feature nuts as their primary ingredients. All three flavors are good, and we really couldn’t tell much difference between the Aldi version and the name brand. Read our full review here.

liveGfree Gluten Free Brownie Mix

liveGfree Gluten Free Brownie Mix — You can make either brownies or chocolate chip brownie cookies with this mix. We made the brownies and they turned out fantastic. They are rich, chewy, and fudgy and are great on their own or served with toppings such as ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, cherries, etc. Read our full review here.

Bake Shop Cinnamon Rolls

Bake Shop Cinnamon Rolls — We rate these as better than canned refrigerated cinnamon rolls but not as good as homemade. These are soft, doughy, nicely seasoned, and have plenty of icing. They’re our favorite when it comes to cinnamon rolls at Aldi. We like them so much we had them delivered to our resort when we vacationed at Disney World. Read our full review here.

L'Oven Fresh Garlic Knots

L’Oven Fresh Garlic Knots — These are seasoned with butter and garlic, and they make the perfect addition to your pasta dinner or whatever meal you need a carby side for. They conveniently bake in their own bag, so all you have to do is drop the package on a baking sheet, cut some vent holes, and put it all in the oven. Read our full review here.

Sundae Shoppe Gelato

Sundae Shoppe Gelato — These come in several flavors, including Caramel Cookie Crunch and Triple Chocolate. Great for fans of Italian desserts. Read our full review here.

Beef Burgers

Beef Burgers 100% Pure Beef Frozen Patties — These are reasonably priced, easy to cook, and taste great. The blue label bag is the more expensive of the two, but it’s also lower in calories and fat and is more popular with our family. The orange label bag is less expensive and has a taste not far off the pace of the blue label, but it’s higher in calories and fat. Read our full review here.

Little Salad Bar Caesar Salad Kit

Little Salad Bar Caesar Salad Kit — This is our favorite bagged salad kit at Aldi. We love the dressing packet, which tastes superior to bottled Aldi Caesar dressings. Read our full review here.

Lacura Face Care Make-Up Removing Cleansing Towelettes

Lacura Face Care Makeup-Removing Cleansing Towelettes — These are comparable in some ways to Neutrogena makeup remover wipes, but the Aldi wipes cost a lot less. These work well at removing makeup, especially around the eye areas, and they don’t make our skin sting like some other brands. Read our full review here.

  1. My daughter saves her organic grocery shopping for when she makes an Aldi run. She’s told me the quality is good, and Aldi organic foods are far more affordable than those at other supermarket chains, let alone those at specialty “organic/health food” grocery stores.

  2. I’d add to this list Aldi’s pork & turkey added breakfast sausage patties. They come frozen and are very easy to make. I love how “smashed burger” thin they are … great for making breakfast egg, cheese, and sausage sandwiches. Good size and good value for they money.

  3. Love the Specialty Brand ice cream – vanilla, with dark choc. covered almond chips which is only available a couple of times per year. Wish it were available all the time.
