In December of 2006, Nintendo released an innovative new gaming console, the Wii. A year later, in December of 2007, Nintendo released the game Wii Fit for use with the Wii game console. Wii Fit featured aerobics, yoga, strength training, balance games, and sports such as baseball, bowling, tennis, and golf.

Wii Fit was part of my exercise routine for a while. I enjoyed the yoga and strength training games, and I often used the Wii Balance Board, which you stand on while playing many of the games. The Wii Balance Board is like a fancy exercise step deck. It measures weight and detects your center of balance, and it also functions like the step decks you see in aerobics classes. Wii Fit had several games that involved rhythmically stepping on and off the Wii Balance Board.

But you don’t need to spend money on a Wii or Wii Fit to experience the physical benefits of a step deck. A standard exercise step deck is pretty low-tech, actually, which makes it affordable. It’s a simple board made of plastic with feet on the corners or ends, and it’s as easy to use as walking up or down a step.

If you’re looking for a low-impact way to get more steps in and get some exercise, step aerobics or step exercise can be a great choice. This exercise targets your legs, upper body, and core. It gets your heart pumping and helps burn calories, and you can do it alone at home or as part of a class with a group of people. You can find DVDs or online videos to do step aerobic workouts along to, or you can make your own routine.

Aldi is selling a 3 level adjustable step deck in time for New Year’s resolutions.

What We Know:

Crane 3 Level Adjustable Step Deck

The Crane 3 Level Adjustable Step Deck in green.

The Crane 3 Level Adjustable Step Deck (Product Code: 828813) is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, it’s gone unless Aldi decides to bring it back at some later time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are sold out at your local store.

This is scheduled to arrive in Aldi stores on December 27th, 2023.

The Crane 3 Level Adjustable Step Deck cost $12.99 in December of 2023. That’s about half the cost it sold for in December of 2022, when it went for $24.99, and it’s one of the more dramatic price drops I’ve seen on an Aldi Find in 2023. One important caveat: this year’s step deck has a reduced weight capacity of 260 pounds, while the 2022 model had a weight capacity of 300 pounds.

This year’s price tag is also cheaper than other adjustable step decks I found on Amazon.

Here’s more information on the Aldi step deck:

  • Available in orange, gray, or green
  • Adjusts to heights of 4, 6, or 8 inches (10, 15, or 20 centimeters)
  • Includes exercise chart
  • Offers total body workout
  • Features a non-slip, textured surface
  • Risers fit inside the step deck for easy storage
  • Maximum user weight: 260 pounds (118 kg)

This is sold under the Crane brand, which is not a company. Instead, that’s the private label Aldi uses for various fitness and sports products including adjustable kettlebells, stadium seats, and exercise mats.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t purchased this step deck, so we don’t know how well it works or how durable it is. Aldi also has not yet published information about whether this comes with any kind of warranty. We write open threads to provide readers with a place to talk about Aldi products.
