Breakfast Best Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam and Chocolate Hazelnut Mini Stuffed Pancakes

Easy breakfasts are a must in my house, where everyone has places to go early in the morning. While we love cooking more elaborate hot breakfasts on the weekends, on weekdays, breakfast needs to be fast and simple to prepare. That means cereal, hard-boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, fruit, bagels, or whole grain toast.

Sometimes I find fun quick breakfast options in the Aldi Find freezer aisle, including oatmeal bites, protein pancakes or French toast sticks, or grab and go waffles.

This week, I found mini stuffed pancakes. They come in peanut butter & strawberry jam or chocolate hazelnut varieties. These looked like just the thing for breakfast.

Breakfast Best Mini Stuffed Pancakes are an Aldi Find, so they’re only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back later. Aldi does not offer online ordering if a product is sold out at your local store.

These cost $3.99 for a 12-ounce bag at the time of publication. That comes out to about 33 cents per ounce. With 10 individually wrapped single-piece servings per bag, that comes out to about 40 cents per serving.

These are a product of Canada. They are kosher certified.

The packages have directions for preparing these. You can either thaw and eat them, or microwave them to warm them. These should be kept frozen until you’re ready to eat them.

To thaw, set the mini pancakes out for 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature in their individual wrappers to keep them from drying out. Eat within 8-10 hours of defrosting for best flavor.

To microwave, remove frozen pancakes from their plastic wrap and place on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave for 15 seconds or until heated through.

We tried these both heated in the microwave and thawed at room temperature. Our taste testers had mixed feelings on these mini pancakes. Some people really liked them, others thought they were okay, and some of us thought they had a strange smell. I felt like the pancake portion of these — not the filling — had an almost metallic scent, which was a bit off putting. However, not all of our taste testers had the same observation, so your mileage may vary.
