Emporium Selection Fresh Sliced Mozzarella Cheese in Marinade or in Pesto

Every season brings with it special treats and limited-edition goodies at Aldi, whether it’s pumpkin everything during the fall, Advent calendars during the winter holidays, or spiral hams for Easter. The summer in particular can be a great time to score deals on seasonal items such as ice cream bars, Wahlburgers gourmet burger patties and special sauce, boxed pasta salad kits, and more.

One area in which Aldi often excels is cheese. They sell a good variety of cheese year round, but during the summer, Aldi really shines in the cheese department. This is when I love to buy little containers of marinated mozzarella cheese balls that are always a big hit in my household, but they’re only at Aldi during the warmer months. My family also recently discovered some more mozzarella cheese options that are only available at Aldi during the summer: this time, it’s sliced mozzarella with marinade or pesto seasoning.

Emporium Selection Fresh Sliced Mozzarella Cheese in Marinade or in Pesto costs $3.99 for an 8-ounce package at the time of publication. With each packaging containing eight servings, that comes out to about 50 cents per serving.

As mentioned above, this is a Seasonal Item, which means Aldi stocks it for longer than an Aldi Find, but Aldi does not sell it year round. It looks like a summer product that Aldi sells during the warmer months. Aldi does not offer online ordering for this cheese during this product’s off season.

The Mozzarella Cheese in Marinade contains mozzarella cheese (pasteurized milk, acetic acid, salt, microbial enzymes), extra virgin olive oil, red pepper, garlic, and parsley.

The Mozzarella Cheese in Pesto contains mozzarella cheese (pasteurized milk, acetic acid, salt, microbial enzymes), extra virgin olive oil, onion, garlic, tomatoes, basil, parsley, cilantro, and green onion.

If you’re looking out for allergens, both of these cheeses naturally contain milk.

Regardless of which cheese flavor you buy, one 8-ounce serving has 80 calories, 6 grams of total fat (8% DV), 4 grams of saturated fat (20% DV), 15 mg of cholesterol (5% DV), 150 mg of sodium (7% DV), zero carbohydrates or dietary fiber, no sugars, and 6 grams of protein.

It’s a little hard to tell from looking at the package, but this cheese is sold already sliced. It’s compressed together some in the package, so you have to work the slices apart a little with your fingers after you open the package and slide the cheese out.

This cheese is sliced in just the right size to enjoy a piece or two as a snack, or you can layer it atop crackers or fancy bread. It could be a good component of a caprese salad or sandwich if you serve it with fresh tomatoes and basil. It would also be great served as part of a charcuterie board, and I think this could be popular served at a summer cookout or barbecue.

The Mozzarella in Marinade has a zestier flavor, and depending on where you bite into it, sometimes it has a little peppery kick, but I wouldn’t call it spicy. The Mozzarella in Pesto has good flavor as well, but it’s more mild and doesn’t have the seasoned zing that the Marinade option has.

The Verdict:

Emporium Selection Fresh Sliced Mozzarella Cheese is sold in a Marinade or in Pesto seasonings. Both are good, but we like the Marinade version best because it has more zesty flavor. This cheese is pre-sliced and easy to set out as part of a charcuterie board or summer appetizer spread. If you like cheese or if you’re looking for something to take to a seasonal party, give this a look.

  1. Would you mind verifying this statement from the article?

“Regardless of which cheese flavor you buy, one 8-ounce serving has 80 calories, 6 grams of total fat (8% DV), 4 grams of saturated fat (20% DV), 15 mg of cholesterol (5% DV), 150 mg of sodium (7% DV), zero carbohydrates or dietary fiber, no sugars, and 6 grams of protein.”

    • It’s printed on the cheese packaging. It’s not easy to see in the photo in this post because the print on the package is small, but it’s there.

  2. I buy the plain sliced mozerella & add seasoning. The pre-sliced has good favor too as I add my flavors. I will give the marinade & pesto a try, thanks!
