Open Thread: Adventuridge Pop-Up 2 Person Tent

EDITOR’S NOTE: We purchased this tent once it became available in our local stores. You can read our full review here

My wife and I have been tent camping together our entire marriage, and even before, if you count the times I met her and her parents in various state parks. Our daughters grew up camping in tents, especially early on when my wife and I needed vacations that were inexpensive. We’ve graduated to bigger and better gear over the years, but pitching a tent and filling it with mats and sleeping bags remains an annual summer tradition. We plan on doing it as long as our bodies will let us.

Aldi has been selling camping gear a long time now, longer than we’ve been writing about the grocer. You can find posts we started back in the 2010s talking about the wide array of tents and bedding as well as other gear that the grocer shelved each summer. The selection seemed to slim somewhat in the early 2020s but seems to be back on the upswing, with a pretty wide selection hitting Aldi stores at the time of this writing.

Tents remain a cornerstone of Aldi’s camping gear lineup. Most of those are your standard dome or modified dome style with an X-style pole frame. Not all, though: Aldi is known to sell a very different tent from year to year.

What We Know:

The Adventuridge Pop-Up 2 Person Tent (Product Code: 834404) is, as you would expect, a limited time Aldi Find (or a Special Buy or Specialbuy, if you live in Australia, the United Kingdom, or Ireland). That means it’s only in stores for a short time, and once it’s sold out, you won’t be able to get it again until it comes back, presumably next year. You can’t order it online if it’s sold out at your local store.

At the time of this post, the tent retails in the United States for $29.99. That’s lower than just about any other pop-up tent we can find online. We have records of Aldi selling variations on this tent at least as far back as 2017, and it’s very possible the grocer sold it before then, too. The price has stayed at $29.99 since 2019.

What We Don’t Know:

While most of Aldi’s tents are made by tent maker Wenzel, this one does not appear to be, and we don’t know who exactly makes it. We’ve also not yet tested this tent (although it is on our bucket list!) so we don’t know how easily it sets up and tears down, how good the ventilation is, or how well it holds up to the elements and to time. That’s why we’ve created this open thread for users to share their experiences.

  1. I purchased this pop-up tent from a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Aldi prior to the July 4th holiday. Upon unfolding it, I was greeted with fiberglass splinters. Apparently the tension was too much for one of the thin fiberglass composite poles to sustain. Here it is, Labor Day weekend, and as we approach the last summer holiday, I regret not taking the broken tent back to the store for a refund or “better luck next time” even exchange.

    1. That’s disappointing. I’d encourage you to still return it for a refund. Even though it’s been a couple of months, Aldi should still take it back.
