Electric kettles are popular in Europe, so it makes sense that Aldi — a German grocer — sometimes sells electric kettles.
Electric kettles have some advantages over heating water in a traditional kettle on a stove. First, electric kettles are fast. You can have boiling water in less than five minutes, as opposed to potentially 10 minutes or more using a kettle on a range. Second, electric kettles are versatile. You can heat water in them to make tea, certain types of coffee, hot cocoa, or even instant oatmeal. You can also heat water in an electric kettle to speed up the process of making Ramen noodles or certain pasta dishes.
I first saw Aldi offer an electric kettle in the spring of 2022. It was a glass kettle that I actually purchased and now use pretty much every day to make hot water for tea.
Recently, Aldi introduced another electric kettle. This time, it’s a pour over kettle available in several colors.
The kettle is sold under the Ambiano label, which is not its own company but instead is the private label Aldi uses for various kitchen accessories. Other Ambiano products we’ve spotted at Aldi include a s’mores maker, a single serve coffee maker, a cordless hand mixer, and more.
What We Know:
The Ambiano Electric Pour Over Kettle (Product Code: 707605) cost $39.99 at the time of publication. That’s on the lower price range for similar gooseneck electric kettles on Amazon. Many kettles on Amazon start at around $40, with a couple of them costing less (although the cheaper kettles often have less capacity), and a good number of them costing $50-$70 or more. That makes the Aldi kettle reasonably competitive.
This kettle is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a limited time. Each Aldi location receives one shipment, and once that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back, whenever that might be. Aldi doesn’t have online ordering for products you can’t find at your local store.
Here’s more information about the kettle, according to Aldi:
- Available in Matte Black, Matte White, or Matte Slate Gray with Faux Wood Handle
- Features stainless steel material
- Includes precise temperature control setting
- Heats water between 104 and 212 °F (which is important if you’re attempting to brew the perfect cup of coffee or tea, all of which can have specific ideal temperatures)
- Maximum capacity: 900 mL/ 0.43 oz.
What We Don’t Know:
We haven’t yet tried this kettle, so we don’t know how well it works, how it holds up to regular use, or whether it comes with any kind of warranty. We write open threads so readers can talk about their experiences with Aldi products.
