When People Think We’re Aldi, 11th Edition

When People Think We're Aldi
How we feel when someone named Karen says our cooks need to go back to school.

Since we created Aldi Reviewer, we’ve received a steady stream of emails and comments from people who think that we’re Aldi. We’re not, and we say so all over our site: on our about page, in our disclosure policy page, and at the bottom of each and every page on our site. We even have a checkbox in our contact page that people have to check acknowledging that they know we’re not Aldi.

Doesn’t matter. We still get emails and comments. So we collect them. And occasionally, we publish them.

Here are the links to previous editions:

Once more, we showcase some of the messages and comments we have received. As always, full names, addresses, and phone numbers have been removed to protect the innocent. We have, however, left in every single typo.

From Karen (no, really, that was her name), who seems to think she’s speaking with the manager:

Tried Bremer Loaded Potatoe Soup, was really bad. No taste and just a slew of cream with potatoes. Awful, I could have made potatoes soup without this disappointment. Your cooks need to go back to school.

If you can’t find the frozen fruit bars at Aldi, it might be this person’s fault:

I absolutely love your frozen fruit bars and already purchased 17 boxes.

I am annoyed because for some reason your organic apple cinnamon oatmeal has not been available for weeks although you have the other 2 flavors.

From someone who is apparently willing to pay us to send them a portable fan:

Do you have one I can buy

From Tony, who says the hot dogs are too small:

Parkview Franks
I wish to request that you stop calling Parkview Franks “Jumbo”
They are not jumbo but regular bun sized
IF you would, have your contrator make real JUMBO sized franks which would be 1/4 lb sized and 8 inches long
THOSE are the kinds of Parkview jumbo sied dogs I want
Please make them and stock all stores with them
Please see the Sugardale SuperDogs, which Aldi used to sell
I want the Parkview Franks to be that sized
Make them as soon as possible please!
Thank you

Our ears are still ringing from this shouting commenter on our review of Aldi cinnamon swirl bread:

WHY WOULD YOU STOP SELLING ONE OF YOUR BEST AND MOST DELICIOUS BREAKFAST BREAD. “CINNAMON SWIRL BREAD”. The cinnamon. Raisin is good but does not compare to others such as Pepperidge Farm. Give it back to loyal customers.

From an email. We have no idea what this person is talking about.

I tried 3 times to get on YOUR LIST for Free Samples, & I was not able to get in the range of getting the correct. The Site kept asking for my E-mail address & actually the Site already had the address. I don’t think I was making any mistakes, so is it possible something was wrong with YOUR Free Sample Site??

Another one where we haven’t the foggiest idea what they’re talking about. This was a comment on our post about how to reach Aldi by phone:

I needed info about one product that changed since I bought it for years but Iam not paying $ 46.00a month to talk to someone! I am a staunch customer for many years, and I have my order account busy This is no way to keep a nice customer!!!!

We asked people on our Facebook page what discontinued products they’d like to see Aldi bring back, and someone told us this:

What happened to your thin sliced pumpernickel bread imported from Germany. It is so good and I miss it also your rye bread.

We wrote about Aldi discontinuing sales of its feminine hygiene products, and someone thought we were Aldi:

I am really, really disappointed in your decision to discontinue the Blossom line of feminine products. I have always liked your store especially knowing (or I thought) you valued customer satisfaction. The Blossom feminine line products were exceptional and we ladies appreciated that. Now all the Aldi’s stores in my area have their own little excuses, with one being “they were not selling enough” which is bull. Please reconsider. Sorry the Broken Heart emoji just dosen’t cut it.

We wrote a post speculating about what Aldi might look like in 2050, and someone got mad:

Anything robot and computer KEEP IT FOR YOURSELVES! I’ll have my own farm and you lost a customer!

Sorry, ma’am. We only review Aldi products. We don’t make them. (Also, Aldi house brands are not companies.)

I appreciate that Baker’s Corner has added more cherries to their cans of pie filling. But I put it back on the shelf due to the high sugar content. Currently use a brand that is 70 calories, with 12 g of total sugar. Could you please make a lite version like that for those of us watching our sugar consumption. Also, everyone else should too. Thank-you!

From someone who thinks we should do a flavor of the month campaign with Aldi whipped dairy topping:

Although the pumpkin flavor is good, the most phenomenal flavor was your maple. That one was wow! An eye opener especially on pancakes s with a drizzle of butter or maple syrup. And don’t get me started pairing it with blueberry pancakes, w/ maple whip cream, yum, totally off the charts!
You aught to do a flavor of the month campaign along with vanilla chocolate and strawberry.
Cinnamon would be a nice start.

From Ray, who really wants us to pay attention to the lack of cheese in his local store:

I no longer can purchase the “EMPORIUM SELECTIONS” 8 oz Parmesan wedges at my local ALDI Store (Danbury, CT). Please continue future availability, if possible. Your attention to this matter will be appreciated.

From a comment on our review of Fremont Fish Market Air Fryer Salmon. As for emailing this person when the salmon comes back to stores, yeah, we’re totally gonna get on that.

I absolutely LOVE all flavors of this salmon.
Please try to get it more often or make it a permanent product.
I know I am not alone on these thoughts……
I would love nothing better.
I bought every one that the store in Sikeston, Missouri had. Yummmmmmmmm.
Please email when they’re about to be in stock.
Thank you in advance. 😊

Someone demanded we refund them for a thermometer:

I have thisDSO 364 from Aldi, and it never worked after a few months, since then I have been watching for it to come to Aldi again, but have not found it, I would like a refund, since I cannot. Replace it. YOU SHOULD STAND BY YOUR PRODUCTS. I have been asking at two Aldi stores, the said they don’t have a replacment. Please refund my money for this product, as it was 14.99

To this person complaining about the Bremer Alfredo Chicken, we have no answer:

My wife purchased what she thought was a good by for dinner last night. She bought a Bremer Alfredo Chicken. When she fixed it and we set down to eat we discovered we didn’t have but three little pieces of chicken in the whole bag. I can’t remember what she paid for it but that was radicles. Don’t think we will try that again. What is your answer?

From Jim, who gave us a great money-saving suggestion about Aldi English muffins, which we’ll be sure to get right to work on:

Love the product!
How much money could you save by losing the paper casing.
Just stack them in an a bag.
Just a thought.
Jim

A comment on our review of Aldi Vienetta ice cream cake. Please, make the shouting stop.

OM GOODNESS PLEASE KEEP THIS PRODUCT IN THE STORES ALL THE TIME SO SO GOOD I HAD TO RETURN AGAIN TO GET 3 MORE

From Denise, who has her doubts about certain Aldi gelato flavors:

Please put more Pistachio Biscotti Gelato in your stores. I’m definitely hooked. I will try the other ones but not sure they will match the flavor of the Pistachio on.

From an anonymous commenter on an Aldi laundry detergent review:

Hi, I use Gain a few years ago I found tandil, I mix half gain and half tandil to save money. Gain is 10.00 tandil was 5.00 so for 15.00 I had 2 large bottles. Now tandil is almost 8.00. If I’m saving money I should just go back to full gain. Why? did you raise the price so much?

From a guy who is unhappy about shrinkflation:

I have been a big fan of your Nonfat Greek Yogurt Black Cherry for some time now. Lately I notice that you are only filling the cups 3/4 full. Raise the price! Don’t skimp on the product. [name redacted] River Falls, Wi.

From a Massachusetts resident who wants more Irish-inspired food:

i have been waiting PATIENTLY for A Special Buy- in March for St. Patrick”s Day For CATTLEMANS REUBEN BITES! These are the absolute best little meals in appetizer I have ever had. My plan was simple- BUY EVERY BAG! End of story! But alas there’s a problem, I am trying to find out if they even make them anymore. I know they were very popular, much MORE than that Lobster Mac& Cheese! So PLEASE, I’m begging you, make them and send them to Chicopee, Massachusetts! ASAP!

From Deborah, who drives for miles in a futile search for apple strudel bread:

It would be nice if you would carry oven fresh apple strudel bread every day. The clerk in Aldi said it was seasonal. Just while I was in the bread isle and asked…3 more people asked the clerk the same thing. This apple bread is the best we ever had..and really only drive 45 minutes to Aldi just for it.

An email from Amy, who wants us to call her about the orange juice:

My name is Amy and my friend Mel and I go shopping at Aldi’s every Sunday. Mel buys 100% orange juice frozen concentrate natures nectar about four canisters at a time and drinks orange juice on a daily basis. However, this most recent batch of five canisters of concentrated orange juice have fermented within 4 to 5 days and is bad. We wanted to reach out to you and let you know of this problem because this is never happened before and we really enjoy this orange juice. However. We also wanted to make you aware of this issue. Mel has had to throw away a half a container of the juice that he is made because it is so fermented and so maybe it’s the batch I don’t know, but we don’t know what to do with the rest of the canisters that are frozen and whether or not you need any further information, the expiration date on these is January 2026. There is no batch number marking or anything like that to assist you with the tracking of this. Please contact me for follow up [phone number redacted].
Thank you and have a good day

From a woman who had a lot to say about the Aldi cheese filled pretzels:

I bought these and fell in love with them! Went back to the store and bought every box that they had. I have done this twice now but they only come in like once a year. They need to be there all the time. They are awesome. I always go into the store and the first thing I do is walk around the freezer section to check and see if they have them in. When they do I will buy every box it’s in the freezer section like I said you need to have these all the time I fell in love With the little jalapeño potatoes in the frozen section, they come in like maybe once a year too every time I fall in love with something that you have y’all seem to not have it very often or never again. The other thing I fell in love with with something that came in a jar and it said pizza topping I’ve never seen something like that before it looked like it had olives and all kinds of stuff in it chopped up it was so good and have never seen it again please please I would love if you brought that back too

  1. Interesting…..but for anyone that has spent any time reading the articles, you would obviously understand that you are just a place that reviews Aldi items. But, I do understand their complaints. They voice the one and only problem that I have with Aldi. You can’t rely on them having a lot of their products long term.

  2. Well that was a fun, but mind boggling read, a lot of confused and demanding folks!

Special buys, limited buys, seasonal buys . . . pretty much always set out in the ads and on the pricing labels in large lettering by the products, often with a different colored label.

The admission of taking every single package of an item is rather appalling! Good thing I wasn’t looking for those frozen fruit bars to try, but still! 😲
