Open Thread: Belavi Hanging Hammock Chair

Last Updated on July 4, 2022

EDITOR’S NOTE: Aldi sold this hanging hammock chair again in July of 2022 for $29.99 and in September of 2021 for $19.99 under the new Aldi house brand Belavi

Aldi offers no shortage of furniture and accessories for your patio, porch, sun room, or deck during the warmer months. With everything from love seat sets to gliders to swings, you can assemble seating for your family and friends that fits your decorating tastes and comfort preferences.

One of the more popular options at Aldi is the Gardenline Hanging Hammock Chair. Hanging chairs of this type have been popular at Aldi lately, with a similar-but-pricier chair selling out quickly at Aldi earlier this spring. With some tools from your local hardware store and a little work, you can add an element of relaxation to a porch or deck with this hanging chair, or you can hang it from a large tree in your yard. It looks like a great spot to curl up with a book and a glass of ice tea.

The Gardenline Hanging Hammock Chair cost $19.99 in June of 2020. It comes in three designs: multi-colored stripes, navy blue, and a floral pattern. It’s an Aldi Find, which means it will only be in stores for a short time, and once it’s gone, you’ll have to wait until next year.

Aldi sold this hanging chair for the same price last year in May of 2019. Aldi also sold a Gardenline Boho Hanging Chair in May of 2020 that cost twice as much at $39.99 and looked similar to this hanging hammock chair.

Here’s what we know about the 2020 Gardenline Hanging Hammock Chair (product code 58850):

  • Includes a removable pillow and hanging hardware
  • Made of cotton and polyester fabric
  • A 39.3″ wooden spreader bar provides stability
  • Portable and claims to be easy to hang
  • For outdoor use
  • Weight limit: 250 lbs.
  • Measures 22″ x 23.6″ x 54″
  • Comes with a one-year warranty

We don’t yet know who services the warranty for the 2020 hanging chair, but a search on Aldi’s website indicates last year’s hanging hammock chair’s warranty was serviced by Discover Home Products, based in Fenton, MO, a suburb of St. Louis. Some of their patio furniture looks practically identical to other products Aldi usually sells each spring, including gliders and two-person patio swings.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t gotten our hands on this hammock, so we don’t know how well it works. We also don’t know exactly who makes this chair or who provides warranty service, although we assume it is the same company as last year.

  1. We bought this chair last summer and it was great! Easy to hang and very comfy. This summer, the wooden parts are getting splintery. We definitely got 19 dollars worth out of it!

  2. The ad just came out on this swing at Aldis. I looked at different all were out . So disappointed.

  3. We bought two of these this spring and one of them we have not even sat in but has been hanging since we bought it. And I walked up to it yesterday and found that half the wood piece had split and fallen to the ground. The arm rest split. Not impressed. The other one is doing better.
