Our Top 10 Favorite Aldi Memes

You’ve been warned.

Memes have developed a remarkable staying power in internet culture. Other expressions have ebbed and flowed in popularity — GIFs come to mind — but since at least the mid-2000s, memes have been a mainstay in online communities, from message boards to social media.

If memes are a culture, Aldi memes are a subculture of subcultures. They’re all about taking pop culture shots at a single grocery store. Of course, if you’re a true Aldi aficionado, you’ve likely seen such memes. We certainly have. We’ve been following Aldi memes for longer than we’ve been Aldi bloggers.

In that spirit, we’ve decided, here, to celebrate our 10 favorite Aldi memes. This is not meant to be a definitive ranking of memes — it can’t be, since we’ve actually made some of these — but they are a collection of images that still make us smile.

10.

Aldi may not do Black Friday, but the Black Friday memes still ring funny when put against the door rush for certain Aldi Finds. We chuckle when we see this and think about the rush on Advent calendars. Disclaimer: we made this meme.

9.

We’ve seen a few variations on this one over the years, but the idea is the same. It’s maybe more corny than funny, but it gets enough of a snort — if not a full laugh — that we think it deserves this place on the list.

8.

Did we mention we like making Aldi memes? We also happen to like Star Wars, which is what inspired us to cook up the captions on this well-known meme template. Just as importantly, it hits on one of the realities of Aldi: you always seem to leave with more than you planned to.

7.

We’re suckers for exploring the differences between Aldi and Trader Joe’s, so it’s no surprise we’re equal suckers for Aldi / Trader Joe’s memes. This one is admittedly another of our creation, based on an image that was taken in 2022 of golfers John Daly and Tiger Woods. Honorable mention in this class of Aldi / TJ’s meme is the riff below — also of our making — on the Netflix TV series Wednesday:

6.

We giggle just about every time we see Dr. Bob, which isn’t an Aldi brand, although it is real. (Sorry, Dr. Dazzle.) In fact, none of these are Aldi products. Regardless of the authenticity of the brands listed, the joke about Aldi house brands hits brilliantly.

5.

No idea where this meme came from, but man, is it funny. Aldi carts and Aldi quarters are always ripe for jokes, and this meme delivers, especially when you consider that Aldi is, by definition, a store for the budget-conscious.

4.

We featured this one on our post chronicling the Aldi checkout aisle. We don’t know its origins, but it works on a number of levels, not the least of which is the hilarity of the text position. We can practically feel the pain as our groceries hit the cart.

3.

This meme is a riff on the 2004 comedy teen drama Mean Girls, in which one of the antagonists declares that “on Wednesdays, we wear pink!” The meme is doubly funny given the fact that Wednesday is, for most Aldi stores, the day the weekly ad goes live.

2.

This is another meme we created, and it’s our personal favorite among the ones we’ve put together. In our defense, we’re not the only one who loved it: when we first posted it on Facebook back in 2019, it was re-shared 375 times, more than any social media post we’ve ever made. I’m sure Chuck Norris approves.

1.

Aisle of ShameAn absolute classic, an epitome of the Aldi experience. We don’t know where it came from or who created it, but we love it … even if it is missing an Oxford comma.
