EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated for 2023.
In 2019, Aldi debuted the SOHL Furniture Teal Accent Cabinet. It was a cute piece of furniture, imitating the style that you might find in big box stores or in some furniture stores. It proved an instant hit with the Aldi superfan crowd, which quickly scooped it up from store shelves. The Aldi teal cabinet came back in 2020, also to much fan excitement. A few months later, the grocer stocked a matching teal table that was much heralded but not quite as popular.
All trends fade, though, and it seems that since then the teal craze has leveled off. Aldi and its suppliers, apparently sensing this, brought the table back in early 2021 in a white color instead.
To date, all of these cabinets have been of the two-door variety, like something you’d put in a living room or dining room. In the fall of 2021, though, Aldi introduced a new wrinkle: a single-door cabinet, like something you might use as an end table or even a nightstand.
What We Know:
The SOHL Furniture Single-Door Accent Cabinet (Product Code: 704534) is an Aldi Find, which means it is only in stores for a limited time. Once it’s gone, it’s gone, and there’s no telling when — or if — it will be back. You can’t order it online, and Aldi won’t ship it to you.
The price of this cabinet has fluctuated over the years. In 2021 it cost $69.99, in 2022 it dropped to $59.99, and in early 2023 it was back up to $69.99. When it came back in August of 2023 it was at an all time low price of $49.99. The price is less than most single-door cabinets out there, especially those with glass. So while you’re getting less cabinet for the same price as its larger Aldi cousin, it’s still a good deal compared to other things out there.
In the past, these cabinets have come with a warranty serviced by Fulfillment Services USA. (At post time, Aldi has not formally listed any warranty information for this cabinet.) We had a generally lousy experience with this warranty provider over our SOHL Furniture Writing Desk, so if you’re having issues with this cabinet and it turns out the same company is servicing it, you may find solving those issues easier said than done.
What We Don’t Know:
Aldi doesn’t have much to say about this particular cabinet in its print or digital weekly ads. There are no product dimensions and no information beyond a couple of pictures. What’s more, we’re not sure how easily it assembles, how good it looks and functions once assembled, or how long it lasts. Time will tell.
