I’ve come to accept that, for some reason, unicorns are a thing in summer. I couldn’t tell you why. They just are. That’s why I see giant unicorn rafts at the beach, unicorn bubble guns in the toy aisle, unicorn ice cream cones in the freezer, and unicorn sprinklers at … well, you get the idea.

So when I saw that Aldi was selling a floating unicorn Bluetooth speaker, I resigned myself to the reality that this is the world I live in.

What We Know:

Bauhn Pool Float SpeakerThe Bauhn Pool Float Speaker (Product Code: 700709) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. At the time of this post it costs $9.99, which is a little less than float speakers I see online. It comes in, of course, a unicorn design, although it also comes in a flamingo design if you happen to not be one of those people who likes (or can find) the unicorn model. Bauhn is an Aldi house brand that we’ve seen for years.

The speakers are backed by a 3-year warranty, serviced by Customer Care USA, a frequent Aldi warranty provider. According to Aldi, the Bauhn speakers…

  • come with an air pump
  • each use a built-in speaker that can stream music wirelessly for up to 1.5 hours
  • are rated IP67 and are water resistant up to 3 feet deep
  • can pair with any Bluetooth-enabled device

The IP67 rating is notable, by the way, because it means the product is tested for conditions as much as 1 meter underwater. That doesn’t mean you can anchor it to the bottom of the deep end of a pool, but it does mean that if your uncle decides to cannonball nearby, sending a wave crashing over the speaker, it may still be okay. (Try to keep your uncle away from the speaker, though.)

What We Don’t Know:

I’ve seen floating speakers before at Aldi, but this is the first time I’ve seen this particular product. We’re not sure how it works, or how long it actually lasts, either on a charge or in terms of durability. We also don’t know how easily it pairs — and stays paired — with a Bluetooth device.

Own this product unicorn is nice speaker is louder when you take out of the unicorn. The speaker bluetooth connection is easy and pairs nice. It last about a hour. Fully charge is 2 hours. As far as water I wouldn’t submerge the speaker top part is not covered with anything to protect but bottom power button and usb charging ports are covered with a silicone seal. Sound quality is stable and loud but dont expect for a crowd pleaser I mean it is from aldi and it’s not gonna sound like beyonce is in the backyard. Perfect for grilling and just low key vibes. Bass is not high end couple of thuds to keep your head moving but after all it was 9.99. I would pay for it again fair price for fair system with fair quality.

  2. Love everything about this speaker!!!

  3. Bought the Pineapple version yesterday for $3.19 on clearance. How do you NOT give it a shot for the few bucks?! Used it tonight in our hot tub and it performed great. I would not have regretted paying 9.99. Another successful ALDI Find purchase.
