Coffee. It’s the magical juice that helps many people get things done. While it’s a treat to pick up hot caffeinated drinks from Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, or your coffee shop of choice, the cost does add up, especially if you go every day or even several times a week.

Enter the home coffee maker. These days, you can get small kitchen appliances to make every kind of coffee, from traditional coffee to espresso to single-serve options, French presses, and more. Making your drinks at home saves considerable money, even after accounting for the relatively modest cost of most machines.

Aldi routinely rotates various coffee makers into its middle aisle. Over the years, we’ve seen single serve coffee makers, iced coffee makers, cold brew coffee systems, retro coffee makers, single-serve espresso machines, regular espresso makers, glass French presses with bamboo lids, and regular French presses.

Aldi has also sold a programmable coffee maker for several years. It was a basic-looking appliance that — in all of our website’s history — never cost more than $20.

In January of 2023, Aldi debuted a revamped programmable coffee maker in its weekly ad. This new version looks entirely different from what Aldi has previously sold. It features a sleek updated design, different colors, different button placement, and has a 14-cup capacity instead of the 12-cup capacity the older coffee maker had. It’s a completely new programmable coffee maker. It also costs twice what the old programmable coffee maker cost.

What We Know:

Ambiano Programmable Coffee Maker

The coffee maker in Pale Aqua with Gold.

The Ambiano Programmable Coffee Maker (Product Code: 708294) cost $39.99 at the time of publication. That’s on the lower end of prices for coffee makers on Amazon.

This is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a limited time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi brings them back at some later, unknown time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your local store.

Ambiano is not a company. Instead, it’s the Aldi private label that encompasses various kitchen products. Other recent Ambiano products at Aldi include a juice extractor, single-serve espresso machine, and mini waffle makers.

Here’s more information on the coffee maker, according to Aldi:

  • Available in Pale Aqua with Gold, White with Gold, or Black with Stainless Steel
  • Includes customizable brew strength, ability to program up to 24 hours in advance, and pause and serve feature
  • Includes reusable permanent filter basket and measuring scoop
  • Features a 14-cup capacity

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t used this coffee maker, so we don’t know how well it works or how it holds up to use. Aldi also has not yet published information about whether this comes with any kind of warranty. We write open threads to provide space for readers to talk about Aldi products.

  1. I am a huge fan of all things Aldi, but unfortunately I am so disappointed in this coffee maker. I had high expectations having grown up in Germany and Aldi. I expected it to brew strong coffee like in Europe – it even has various strength settings, but the only thing it serves is extremely hot coffee that tastes like plastic. My husband and I both burned our mouths drinking this coffee – and myself doing so with a quarter cup of cream in it! I think there is a design flaw with the reusable filter basket, the bottom of which is made from plastic instead of mesh like most reusable filters. I’ve even tried brewing the coffee with a paper filter, which does improve the taste somewhat. But why would I want to use paper filters with a coffee maker that comes with a reusable one? Needless to say, we’re taking it back today. This is the first product I’ve ever returned to Aldi, at least they have a great guarantee.

  2. Oh my goodness, I just bought this coffee maker a couple days ago, and it is the best coffee maker ever!!!!! We’ve always had black and decker, but this proves the hottest coffee ever and I wish they would’ve said on the outside box that it has a cleaning cycle I didn’t say that, but I still bought it and it is hands-down, the best ever
