Huntington Home Wood Monitor Stand

A few years ago, I bought a nice writing desk and office chair from Aldi. The desk is home to our family computer, which is in a corner in a public part of the house. It gets frequent use, whether people are playing games, watching videos or movies, doing school work, writing professionally, or quickly looking something up. One of the only things I didn’t like about the setup was that the monitor was not positioned at an ideal height to promote healthy posture. Then Aldi came to the rescue, as it often does, and sold a wooden monitor stand.

The Huntington Home Wood Monitor Stand cost $17.99 at the time of publication. That’s on the lower end of prices for monitor stands. The Aldi monitor stand looks exactly like a well-reviewed SONGMICS stand sold for $19.99 on Amazon at the time of writing.

This is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. You can’t order it from Aldi after it sells out at your local store.

To the best of my knowledge, I don’t remember Aldi advertising this monitor stand in 2022. I simply stumbled unexpectedly upon it in the Aisle of Shame at a local Aldi I don’t shop at as frequently as other locations.

Throughout the past couple of years, Aldi has stealth released some products, stocking them in the middle aisle without advertising them. It’s likely due to supply chain snarls. I could be wrong, but my guess is that Aldi stealth released this monitor stand. My monitor stand has a manufacture date of August of 2021, but I’m not sure when it was scheduled to arrive in stores or when it actually reached my particular store.

Aldi did sell a bamboo version of this stand in August of 2020, too, and it garnered some chatter on reddit, where people generally liked it.

Aldi has sold other products in the past year or so to help set up a computer desk space, including an ergonomic laptop stand and dual or single monitor desk mounts. Whether any of those will return to Aldi stores is something only Aldi knows.

This stand is solid and feels like a quality, well-made product. The wood material gives it a formal, appealing look. I’ve used a simple laptop stand in the past, which is not intended to hold a monitor, but the effect is the same because both a laptop stand and a monitor stand elevate the screen. I like the look of the wood monitor stand much better, since it looks like a part of my wooden desk. It looks like an actual piece of furniture. And you could probably use this wood stand as a laptop stand as well, although I haven’t tried that.

Our monitor is currently a small flat-screen television with feet on either end, so it doesn’t fit as well on the stand as an actual monitor with a single “foot” in the middle. Still, it works for our setup. Looking at the monitor stand in the store, I wasn’t sure if it would be too big to fit on our Aldi writing desk, since we also keep a printer on the desk. It’s a snug fit with the printer, but it’s okay.

Our tea and coffee mugs fit nicely in the cup slot, and all the other little crevices can hold pens and pencils, eyeglasses, paperclips, Post-It notes, and other office supplies.

Whether your phone fits in the phone slots depends on what type of phone you have, as well as the size of your phone case. My Moto G7 phone does not fit in either slot with the case on. When I removed it from the case, it fit in both slots but would not stand up on its own.

Even if the phone holder slots are not useful, this stand still brings a lot of functionality to my desk setup by a.) elevating the monitor to promote better posture, and b.) offering storage space on top of the stand and below the stand. It gets bonus points for looking good. It’s a winner in my opinion.

The Verdict:

The Huntington Home Wood Monitor Stand elevates your computer monitor to help promote better posture while working at your desk. It’s made with 100% acacia wood and measures not quite two feet long, not quite 12 inches wide, and a little over 3 inches tall. It features slots to hold cups, office supplies, and possibly a phone, with cable cutouts to help keep wires tidy.

  1. I found this bamboo monitor stand today Aug 24 2022 in Aldi for $20. The price looks like it’s gone up a few dollars. The one you pointed out on Amazon is $33.
