Lacura Moisture Luxury Shampoo and Conditioner

Last Updated on April 6, 2021

While making my weekly Aldi shopping trip recently, I noticed some new products in the personal care and toiletry section: Aldi house-brand shampoo and conditioner. Based on the price signs, these appear to be products that will be on the shelves all the time and not just as limited-time specials. I also spotted some body wash and dandruff shampoo that appear to be new Regular Buys; keep an eye out for reviews of those products in the coming weeks.

Lacura Moisture Luxury Shampoo and Conditioner

The shampoo and conditioner are part of Aldi’s Lacura brand, which encompasses a variety of personal items. Lacura products that can be found at Aldi year round include face wash, day and night cream, and razors, with sunscreen also available for either all or part of the year.

In addition, a few years ago Aldi sold Lacura-branded kids’ 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for a short time, as well as offering limited runs of Lacura lotion, Lacura moisturizing body wash, and Lacura men’s body wash.

As far as I can tell, Aldi has never before sold shampoo and conditioner for adults under the Lacura brand. Instead, my local Aldi stores sell name-brand Pantene shampoo and conditioner, which for now are still available alongside the new Lacura shampoo and conditioner.

Lacura Moisture Luxury Shampoo and Lacura Moisture Luxury Conditioner each cost $2.69 for a 28-fluid-ounce bottle (about 10 cents per ounce). The bottles state that these compare to name-brand Moisture Rich TRESemmé shampoo and conditioner. A twin pack containing a 28-ounce bottle each of TRESemmé Moisture Rich shampoo and TRESemmé Moisture Rich conditioner from Walmart cost $6.98, or $3.49 per bottle (about 12 cents per ounce), at the time of writing. That makes the Aldi version the better deal. The Aldi bottles, by the way, state they are not manufactured or distributed by Unilever, distributor of TRESemmé products.

The Lacura shampoo and conditioner bottles state they contain Vitamin E and that each “quickly moisturizes dry hair for soft tresses.” These products were not tested on animals.

I don’t have as much experience with TRESemmé, but I usually use Pantene shampoo and conditioner, and these Lacura products work as well as what I typically use. They also smell good.

The only mild downside is that it’s sometimes difficult to squeeze product out of the conditioner bottle with one hand; the conditioner is thick and the bottle doesn’t give easily. That could probably be solved by storing the bottle upside down, though.

Otherwise, I’m happy with these products and I may have just found my new go-to shampoo and conditioner.

The Verdict:

Lacura Moisture Luxury Shampoo and Lacura Moisture Luxury Conditioner are comparable to TRESemmé Moisture Rich shampoo and conditioner. They seem to do the job as well as most comparable mid-priced name brands and are worth a try.

  1. Love Lacura hair conditioner, but it’s almost impossible to get out of bottle. Needs a larger hole.

  2. Really liked this shampoo and conditioner but don’t know if or when Aldi will restock them
