Mama Cozzi’s Take & Bake Pizza My Heart Heart-Shaped Cheese Pizza (2023)

Aldi loves to celebrate holidays with special foods. They sell corned beef for St. Patrick’s Day. Ham shows up for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Pumpkin cake rolls appear on shelves for the fall and Halloween season. Aldi also has specialty cheese for everything from Advent to Mother’s Day to Easter to Halloween to Christmas.

One area where Aldi also likes to get in on the seasonal fun is with its take and bake pizzas. Aldi stocks a regular selection of very good refrigerated take and bake pizzas, including sausage and pepperoni, five cheese, supreme, mega meat, and even a gluten free cauliflower crust pepperoni pizza.

At certain times of the year, Aldi sells unique take and bake pizzas to fit the season. We’ve seen a green bean casserole pizza around Thanksgiving and even a football-shaped pizza for the Super Bowl.

For several years now, Aldi has sold a heart-shaped take and bake pizza for Valentine’s Day. It was a good pizza, except that it was not really a traditional pizza. It had no tomato sauce, so it was more of a cheesy bread.

In 2023, Aldi brought its heart-shaped take and bake pizza back, but it’s a new recipe that includes tomato sauce this time. We decided to give the new heart pizza a try.

Mama Cozzi's Take & Bake Pizza My Heart Heart-Shaped Cheese Pizza

Mama Cozzi’s Take & Bake Pizza My Heart Heart-Shaped Cheese Pizza cost $5.99 at the time of publication. The package describes it as “heart-shaped crust topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, white cheddar & provolone cheeses, with parmesan and Romano cheeses, garlic and herbs.” The package also features a little heart on the front that says “2 share.”

This pizza is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store receives one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone until next year. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are not in stock at your local store.

Mama Cozzi’s is the private label Aldi uses for various pizzas. It’s not a separate company.

If you’re looking out for allergens, this contains wheat, milk, and soy. It may contain sesame.

One pizza has four servings. One 121-gram serving has 310 calories, 13 grams of total fat (17% DV), 5 grams of saturated fat (25% DV), 660 mg of sodium (29% DV), 36 grams of total carbohydrates (13% DV), 4 grams of total sugars, and 2 grams of added sugars (4% DV).

The package has directions for baking this pizza in a conventional oven. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Remove the pizza from packaging. Do not bake the pizza on the cardboard tray! Place the pizza directly on the center oven rack. (I used a pizza pan.) Bake for 10-13 minutes or until the cheese in the center is melted and the crust is golden.

Keep in mind that if you don’t intend to eat this pizza right away, you can freeze Aldi take and bake pizzas to enjoy later.

The pizza after baking.

This was done after about 12 minutes in my oven. This was a great pizza and it was what my family has come to expect with Aldi take and bakes. The crust had just the right amount of chewiness to it, and the sauce and cheese toppings were flavorful. I served this alongside a frozen heart-shaped pizza Aldi is also selling this year, and this take and bake pizza was hands down the winner. My kids said they liked the take and bake pizza with the “little green bits” in it, which I’m guessing might be parsley? The fact that this pizza just has sauce and cheese (and a few tiny green things) appealed to my family of cheese pizza lovers. Sometimes simple like this is better. Or, you can use this pizza as a base and add your own additional toppings of choice.

The only downside to this pizza is that it’s on the small side, so if you’re feeding your family, you might want to buy more than one.

The Verdict:

Mama Cozzi’s Take & Bake Pizza My Heart Heart-Shaped Cheese Pizza has been reformulated in 2023 so it now is topped with tomato sauce and cheese. (Previous versions of this pizza had no tomato sauce and were more like a cheesy bread.) This is an excellent pizza, as pretty much all Aldi take and bake pizzas are. It’s a quality pizza for people who like their pizzas simple and delicious. One pizza doesn’t feed many people, so if you’re feeding a crowd, buy several.
